She also describes things that should have been done (profiling, border security, etc) under the current Republican ("borders, what borders?") administration. I guess our 2008 slogan should be that "The democrats will be even worse!"
Failure to maintain viable borders doomed Rome. And for the same reason; the people who ran the Empire thought they “needed” the influx of barbarians, who turned out to not to want assimilation.
