Sounds like he must have gotten an earful while he was campaigning. I also suspect that the GOP's private polls are showing that the open borders crowd is having trouble attracting voters. He's still weenie-ing on the birthright citizenship.

I liked Sam a whole lot better when he wasn’t running for president.

Brownback has no chance to begin with. His poll numbers show this conclusively.
Interesting he decided that repudiating his position on AMNESTY is the best move politically.
Finally, it seems the GOP is waking up to what actually caused them to lose last fall.

“I would not vote for the same bill,” Mr. Brownback told reporters yesterday morning, saying that after the bill passed the Senate he had a chance to study its effects and decided it led to too much immigration.
That and he decided to run for Prez. hahaha

Brownback has no chance to begin with. His poll numbers show this conclusively. My guess is that his poll numbers for re-election to the senate are the problem.

Hmmmm. Being in Ohio, I don’t have a take on that. Thanks, food for thought.

Mr. Brownback refused to take a position on ...
Mr. Brownback said he is not willing to say whether he supports rescinding...
So, Mr. Brownback is expecting the voters to buy a pig in a poke?
Mr. Brownback has put his finger in the wind and found he is on the wrong side of the issue. This is reminiscent of John Kerry and "I was for it before I was against it."
===
Mr. Brownback, why didn't you study the previous version and reach a conclusion before voting for it?
Mr. Brownback, did you even read the previous version or did you just leave that menial task up to staff?

Hmmmm. So in summary, he just started listening to his own state’s voters, huh?
Sucks to be him, then.

I did everything I could to get Mikey fired here. Did you know he’s McCain’s Ohio campaign coordinator?

When running for any public office the first thing a candidate is advised to do is get internal polling data on pertinent issues. This type of data will never be seen on the national news.
One can bet when the polling data came in on the border issue, Brownback began backpedaling. The Democrats will not change their stance on this issue because of the far left fridge that finances them, but Brownback knows that he has hurt himself with the GOP as well as the Conservatives.
This is good. One down, and for Fred to announce.
