Canadian Gitmo Detainee Khadr Charged With Murder [finally!]
National Post [Canada] ^ | Tuesday, April 24, 2007 | CNS

Posted on 04/24/2007 1:31:18 PM PDT by canuck_conservative

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon on Tuesday formally charged Omar Khadr with murder, attempted murder and supporting al-Qaida, setting in motion long-awaited U.S. military legal proceedings against the accused Canadian terrorist.

Mr. Khadr will now appear before a U.S. military tribunal within 30 days to be arraigned on the charges.

He is the second "enemy combatant" to be charged under the newly constituted U.S. war crimes tribunals, following the conviction last month of Australian David Hicks.

His lawyers, and human rights groups, have complained the Canadian government has done little to ensure his proper treatment.

Mr. Khadr, 20, the Toronto-born son of an al-Qaida financier, has been imprisoned at the American military prison at Guantanamo since the fall of 2002. He was 15 when American forces captured him following a battle against al-Qaida fighters in southern Afghanistan.

He is alleged to have thrown a grenade that killed army medic Christopher Speer and to have converted landmines into roadside bombs to be used against U.S. troops.

The whole family has connections to Bin Laden and al-Quaeda, yet they continue to live on welfare - i.e., at taxpayers' expense - in Toronto, claiming they're being framed. Got that? Their bills are being paid by the society they're trying to destroy.

Oh Canada. We won't be shedding any tears for this little puke.

Fortunately, the only proper and effective treatment for people who embrace terrorism is immedite execution.

No repeat offenders.

I’m miffed that they haven’t filed charges of High Treason against them. It’s a slam dunk because they never renounced their citizenship and they never denied taking up arms against our military.

When will the "Human Rights" groups be called for what they are?? In South Thailand, a young Buddhist woman and a 77 Year old were burned alive and the "Human Rights" groups voiced concern that the Army would start a "witch hunt" in Muslim villages for the perpetrators!! The left has achieved dhimmi status and they only had to sell their souls.

The only preparation I would give him is handing him a bible and suggesting he convert and beg forgiveness before he meets his Maker.

Let him hang.

Oh my, he was just a kid!

He is alleged to have thrown a grenade that killed army medic Christopher Speer

A kid who should be executed.

Does Canada have no way to strip these people of their citizenship and return them to their natal and ancestral hell holes? Is Canada waiting for blood to flow in the streets?

We do, but it’s a long and expensive process, and it would have to happen in Canadian courts, where the bleeding-heart media and special-interest groups would largely control the dialogue.

Far easier to let the American military methodically do their work, away from the cameras, and in a timely manner.

He was born here so we're stuck with him. US law is the same.

I really think both countries (and all Western countries) should change their laws to allow people like that to be expelled. In fact, I believe that all anti-Western Muslims should be returned to their natal and ancestral hell-holes and not be allowed to leave, ever. These people have forfeited their right to live in the West. They screwed up their own countries so badly they had to leave, and now they’re here screwing up ours. We have a right, and I would say an obligation, to get rid of them.

Actually since he was born in Toronto there is no way to remove him from Canada unless he had naturalized in another country. We have the same problem in the US.

I don’t think that’s a good idea because it would be wide open to abuse. On the other hand there is a way to get rid of people like him- charge him with High Treason, then offer a deal where he can avoid jail time if he renounces his citizenship. That would only work, mind you, if we could find a country willing to take him.

Ok, I'll wait too, but it's a good sign.

I'm am SOOOO happy with Stephen Harper and with the pride he has allowed us to recapture.

We Canadians can be proud again, because our country is doing the right thing, heading in the right direction again. Finally!!!

:-D
