I don't jump up and celebrate the fact that a 15 year old is dead. I do celebrate the fact that a man with the right to protect himself was able to do so.

The world is governed by the rule of sowing and reaping. If you do bad things (as this kid did) eventually, something bad is probably going to happen to you. It's unfortunate such a young person is dead, but the uncaring truth is that he brought his death upon himself.

Gun supporters said the weapon saved Wells' life. Opponents said it took Buford's - that the 15-year-old might be alive if a citizen had not been armed.

Wells' action saved several lives. In fact, we'll never know how many lives will have been saved because of it:

• He saved his own life
• He saved the 15-year-old's partner, who will think twice about trying the same thing again
• He saved an unknown number of potential victims who will NOT be the victims of thugs, who will now be thinking twice
• He saved an unknown number of thugs who might otherwise find themselves in the same position as the dead 15-year-old, but will think twice now

Why can people not understand this simple concept??

Damon Wells ... has a permit to carry his gun, and he had the gun on him when a pair of teenage thieves approached him Saturday night on his front porch in Cleveland. When one of the youths pulled a gun, Wells drew his and shot one of the boys several times in the chest, police said. Arthur Buford, 15, died after stumbling away and collapsing on a sidewalk near East 134th Street and Kinsman Road.

Now that's an idea. I think it's an old tradition for the victor to claim his opponents arms anyway...
