"Abraham Lincoln recognized that we could not survive as a free land when some men could decide that others were not fit to be free and should therefore be slaves. Likewise, we cannot survive as a free nation when some men decide that others are not fit to live and should be abandoned to abortion or infanticide. My Administration is dedicated to the preservation of America as a free land, and there is no cause more important for preserving that freedom than affirming the transcendent right to life of all human beings, the right without which no other rights have any meaning." -- President Ronald Reagan, 1983

"If you agree with the church, theres no difference between murdering a one-year-old and eliminating a fetus its the same act. There is a moral consequence to the elimination of a fetus, but its not the same thing as murder. -- Rudy Giuliani, 1987 |

Thanks for taking a stand on this. People forget this site is about conservatism, not republicanism.

No, he does not measure up. But then, who does? Reagan had a great [and potentially very dangerous] gift of charismatic leadership. Luckily for mankind, this gift is rare, for the likes of Reagan make maybe 5% of its possessors, while the likes of Hitler - at least 50%.

Rudy is a monster and he must be stopped cold in the primaries.
There's a reason the lefty media is carrying water for this jerk. They know that if Rudy is our candidate it doesn't really matter who wins the Presidency.
Either way they'll have a flaming liberal in the White House and we'll never get the last vote we need to finally get Roe overturned.

I can’t fathom what makes anybody draw a comparison between Ronald Reagan and Rudy Giuliani.

Maybe it’s the way rudy mentioned reagan’s name 15 times during his CPAC speech.

No, but neither does any other candidate.

What are the moral consequences? How is it different from murder?
I actually would be interested to hear if he went on from there to answer those obvious questions. I won't hold my breath, though.

It’s not even a question that should be ask.
Does Rudy measure up to Bill and Hilary would be a more reasonable question. The answer... Too close to call.

Most of these impostors are taking RR’s name in vain - they think it’ll help us buy them whole...
I say to them “Where is the rest of you?”

I just finished a long post on this on a Fred Thread, but my point was that our frontrunners' idea of "conservative leadership" is to point out a couple positions they have that are similar to Reagan's, sweep the rest of their backgrounds under the rug, and hope we'll be fooled.
We won't be.

Even if I repeat the word "cognac" 100 times, not only wouldn't any cognac materialize for my benefit, but nobody would even get an illusion that I became a bottle.

Rudy could not even reach the bootstraps of Reagans smallest accomplishments. Reagan believed in the supremacy (no abortion) of life, and had strong beliefs regarding the 2nd amendment.

It seems almost sacrilegious to mention President Reagan and Rootie Tootie Fresh and Fruity Fagfest in the same post.
