John Edwards Takes Campaign To Michigan By Staff Apr 23, 2007
U.S. Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards told an audience in Detroit the United States must get out of Iraq as soon as possible.
Edwards called the Iraq War a "bleeding sore" as he spoke to more than 2,000 Democrats at a dinner Saturday, The Detroit News reported.
"America needs to be leaving Iraq, this is very, very simple," said Edwards, 53, who is running for the Democratic presidential nomination. "We have had multiple surges, none of them worked."
There’s the Rat resolve! That’s what warriors are made of! When the doing gets tough, take your ball and go home.
Good job, Pinkie! :P
His commitment to the War on Terror could be called a Pinkie Promise.
I have hardly posted since Harry Reid started the Democrat approach to the war--"The war is lost."
I still find it difficult to read any other article, this issue is so astonishing to me. (I know, it shouldn't be, but it is.)
What in hell are the democrats doing?
Please, no glib comments about them wanting American soldiers to die--I don't believe that. What I DO believe is that they accept that some will die in order to get them all home, and this incredibly nearsighted goal (get the Americans people to love Democrats because they ended the war) is what's now driving them.
They WANT a US defeat, so they can "bring pride back to America" the way Reagan did.
Ugh, I can't go on, this just...gets me nuts.
If anyone would know about bleeding sores, it’s be a guy like John Edwards (aka “Silky Pony”, aka “Pink Sapphire”, aka “Breck Girl”).
I think they are reliving the Viet Nam era. Most of them were too young or not involved in the anti-war demonstrations and now in positions of power, they see themselves as having another opportunity to be anti-war heroes. I don’t think it has as much to do with wanting to be like Reagan but rather equating the current Bush administration with Richard Nixon and wanting to bring him down.
I do think they want to be like Reagan, because as much as they loathe him they know the American people really responded to his “Morning in America” attitude, of bringing us out of “darkness.” The Dems want to be seen as new Reagans—and gain some “Hillary Republicans” if they can—and not as new Carters, though of course they adore him. (And would love to name him Sec. of State in their dreams.)
What’s a Hillary Republican. I have never met one..EVER.
Edwards isn’t going anywhere unless Hillary or Obama dies.
Me neither. The point I was making is that they need some crossover, like Reagan Democrats.
Mystic Edwards, the psychic ambulance chaser.
Yeah, Edwards wants to surrender Iraq, what a union whore. And he’s whining again for this mythical “universal” health insurance.
No wonder NC didn’t want him.
A little off-topic but I saw the other day where Pink Sapphire opposed the recent Supreme Court ruling banning Partial Birth abortions. Yet, he thought nothing of pretending to channel a baby in distress as he sued doctors for malpractice during childbirth.
I wonder if he could channel a baby almost born who gets her brains sucked out while she is alive?
The Good Lord is merciful and mighty.
What else could their motives be other than to defeat America? They own defeat, they revel in defeat, they are marxist pragmatists who will use any means, including the honored dead, to achieve their ends. They are willing to accept casualties over there, and they are willing to accept casualties here in order to promote their agenda which is total domination of US.
I am tired of listening to people like Sean Hannity bleat on about the "once great democrat party with men like FDR, Harry Truman, Scoop Jackson, and blah blah blah". If any nobility can be ascribed to people like that, their time has long passed. The current democrats, spawn of the '60s radical leftists, hate America, they want us defeated. They do not care about our once and future greatness. There was a time when, even if democrats believed the s#it that people like Hairless Reid and the punk Edwards feel free to utter openly, they kept it to themselves. Now they blow it out to a compliant media and people like you don't want to believe it. Believe it. We are in a war with radical fascist islam, we are in a war with their fellow travelers in America called the democrat party.
The real question is "what the hell are the Republicans doing?" Want to do something about it? Demand at every opportunity that the Republican party either lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way as I do at every opportunity.
I'm not disagreeing with this point at all. Read what I wrote: I agree with you 100%.
But I don't think democrats are monsters. Sorry, they're human beings, many of them Christians, many of them gun owners.
I have the bad fortune of living in an area crammed with liberals, and when I discuss this with them, I rarely find people who actively despise the military personel--they hate the military, sure, but they patronizingly see soldiers as dupes and...well, you know the drill.
I seriously don't believe the ideas you articulate in your post can get through the dense matter of their skulls. I talk to them about this stuff and they get all emotional, ditching any rational argument in favor of emotion. And they see the deaths of American soldiers as Bush's fault, and their efforts to end the war are liberation--of the soldiers, from Bush.
The dems I encounter seem to think it's regrettable, but more US soldiers may have to die to end the larger killing of Iraqis and Americans.
I think they're sincere, and tragically wrong. But I rarely encounter Americans who WANT Americans to die. I just think it's too convenient and too tempting to pretend they're all demons and inhuman. If only they were, but they're flesh and blood people, just like the racists and bigots we all know.
No offense, but I don’t care much for the Heritage Foundation, and they’re hardly capable of an unbiased view here.
Just watch it. You’ll be pleasantly surprised and will be nodding your head in agreement.
