Singer Sheryl Crow and environmentalist Laurie David have been traveling across America on a two-week Stop Global Warming College Tour, which winds up today at George Washington University. Crow and David (co-producer of the documentary "An Inconvenient Truth" and wife of "Curb Your Enthusiasm's" Larry David) have been touting their cause and chronicling their travels in a rather idiosyncratic blog. Here, on Earth Day, are a few excerpts: David (4/10, Dallas): I am jogging outside in 40 degree freezing cold . . . 70 degrees in January and 40 degrees in April. That is exactly why Sheryl Crow and I are in a biodiesel bus going thru the Southeast visiting college campuses to talk about the urgency of this issue and how everyone . . . everyone . . . has to start doing something. I would write more, but I have to go run warm water over my hands and thaw out from my run.

And while we’re at it - do you really need so many clothes?
Those are a luxury, an unnecessary purchase and waste of material. Let’s get down to basics. One outfit per person, until the one wears out.
Now, let’s talk about hair. What about all of those chemicals you are polluting the waters with when you are getting streaks, foils, colors, etc.
And do you really need to travel to reach your audience? In this high’tech age, I propose that you stay at home and market yourself with all of the technology at your fingertips.
And eating out, movies, etc, forget about it! More fuel consumption and energy consumption required for these.
P.S. What about guitars, etc. that require energy?

Are these people just plain stupid in their own world? They should come and live in the normal world. Nothing more sobering than that. Oh, I forget, they only want us to live in the real world. I don’t know about you; but I have had just about enough fantasy from these folks. I think we should just ignore them and start making sure the people of America including the children learn to know what saneness is again; not some phoney fantasy concocted for the benefit of only a few.

You could eliminate every oxygen producing plant on land and we would still have an excess of oxygen from the phytoplankton in the oceans. I do not advocate doing this but the damn oxygen arguement went out in the early 90’s. Stupid Liberals.

this is the old fear message. forests give out o2 and then take it back at night. it is exactly the same with carbon. the amount of carbon they take up is delivered back with rotting trees in every forest. could you imagaine the amazon just giving out oxygen...anyone who would light a cigarette would torch Brazil because of the o2 % in the air. jeeze these people need to read a friggen book or do some basic science!
