Actually, Paris was 35% Sarko, 32% Royal.

North and East of France prefers Sarko, South and West of France Royal. Some "departments" (provinces?) near France-Spain border had Royal first and Sarko third (behind Bayrou) and near German and Swiss borders it was opposite (Sarko first, Royal third).

There doesn't seem to be a difference between cities and countryside, except that minor candidates (other than Sarko, Royal, Bayrou) have much worse numbers in bigger cities.

Paris has always been one of the most conservative regions in France. Sarko also won in almost the regions surrounding Paris.
