Sometimes when Imus would do live commercials for 1-800-MATTRESS by telling listeners they should get rid of that old mattress they use with the big Rorschach stain on it for one of the new mattresses from 1-800-MATTRESS.
When I first heard Charles with Mike and Dog, I thought it was a good sign, like they were keeping the time slot enough the same that eventually Imus could go back. Now with Bernard out, I don’t see that being the case. I bet Charles leaves on his own after this week and waits to follow Imus.

I think you’re right. Charles tends to be pretty loyal to Imus, afterall, Imus bought Charles a car that he never drives. LOL

The live commercials might be my fav part. I loved it when he would call that Neuro PS stuff “Neuro-Pussy”. I’ve even incorporated that into my own life...there’s this drug called Entex PSE that I now lovingly refer to as “Entex-Pussy”.

I've ended up listening to Quinn & Rose and then Glenn Beck, in the morning on XM Talk Radio 165. If I get bored listening to Rush via the internet, I listen to Mike McConnell (he originates out of 700 WLW in Cincinnati, and is heard nationally on XM Talk Radio 165 and XM Channel 173, which is WLW's national signal) after Beck.
Elevator music during commercials kills my attention. Even during Rush. I need local commercials and news breaks or I lose interest. Does this XM thing have only elevator breaks?

Nope. For instance, Quinn & Rose (here's their homepage), which originates from an FM talk station in Pittsburgh, carried nationally on XM. On their XM signal, XM will insert it's own national commercials, 5 minute top of the hour news from WLW and a 2 or 3 minute sports report from FOX Sports Radio, when the Pittsburgh station is airing their local commercial sets, local traffic, weather, and news.
There's no elevator music, which is nice, and doesn't detract my attention or interest.
Was just checking out XM website...looks like I can listen online for like $10 a month. Tempted to sign up now that I know there’s no coma music...thanks for info!

Context about Sharpton.
What the metro-area papers didn’t tell you is that a jury awarded $345,000 to New York prosecutor Steven Pagones because Sharpton repeatedly defamed Pagones by participating in the rape hoax story invented by teenager Tawana Brawley, and by knowingly falsely accusing Pagones of rape.
In 1989, a young woman jogger in Central Park was viciously raped and beaten by a gang of youths. Sharpton led a mob outside the court which claimed, without a shred of evidence, that “the boyfriend did it,” and screamed that the victim was a “whore.”
At a rally in Harlem, Sharpton denounced a Jewish small business owner as a “white interloper,” and then stood by approvingly while one his associates incited the crowd to violence. Later, a listener killed seven people in the store. Sharpton then lied and claimed he had never been at the rally.
Sharpton helped incite a murderous anti-Jewish pogrom in Brooklyn when he gave a speech at a funeral of a black child who had been accidentally killed by a Jewish driver. Sharpton announced, “If the Jews want to get it on, tell them to pin their yarmulkes back and come over to my house.” He also organized a boycott of small grocery stores owned by Korean immigrants. He called New York City’s first black mayor, David Dinkins, “that n-—— whore turning tricks in City Hall.”
In 1994, Sharpton explained black cultural superiority: “White folks were in caves while we were building empires. . . . We taught philosophy, astrology, and mathematics before Socrates and those Greek homos.”

I also have an Imus bit on VHS, it’s where I first heard of Imus during C-SPAN’s “Talk Radio Week” they used to run. It includes the priceless “The First Lady is a Tramp” (early 1995).

Yes, there was some excellent comedy. McGuirk doing the NO mayor was superb. Rob Bartlett as Clinton calling Hillary `Satan’, etc. Something to be missed, IMHO.
I’m going to miss McGuirk’s Ray Nagin shtick though. He had Nagin down to a tee; you almost couldn’t tell the difference.
On the first anniversary of 9/11 they replayed their live coverage of that morning. I taped it but I can’t listen to it.
