Law School Paper

Posted on 04/21/2007 9:01:05 PM PDT by sasherm13

I am writing a law school paper n in which I need to create a new law that I think should be passed. I then need to backup the law with public policy as to why it should be passed. I am struggle to come up with a good law that will foster good public policy that has not already been passed in some form or another. The law can be for any governmental body.

Does anyone have any great ideas or at least an area I can start looking

The department of fish and wildlife should have "Lawyer Season"
It should be right after "Illegal Alien Season", and should overlap with "Telemarketer Season".

Political contributions can be made ONLY by individuals who can vote for the person the contribute to.

To increase local accountability.

Interesting idea. I certainly do not like your last line:

“At the end of their term their original assets are returned plus or minus how their jurisdiction prospered.”

This suggest that Robert Bryd the king of pork is the best legislator out there. Sorry I cannot buy that. I guess I could buy rewarding them based on how the country does.

Other than that providing them public housing in DC with their small salary would be interesting. That would keep all these rich Dims from running and holding office forever.

I think that all pay for members in a combat zone is already exempt.

I would go one farther … the pay for all active duty personal should be tax exempt, war zone or not.

I’ll top you. All retired and active duty military should be exempt from income taxes forever.

All political contributions must be reported ONLINE within one day of their taking place and must include to whom they were made, amount, and name, address, and occupation of person who made them.

If you want a good grade, it should be something liberal.

What about a term of mandatory public service, like they have in Germany.

“They ARE tax exempt while in the designated combat zone.”

I think that one was for politicians while they serve in Congress. We need one for the soldiers, even though their lot is far less dangerous!

Anyone previously deported permanently looses any right or privilege to ever gain legal residency or citizenship. They are in effect permanently black listed.

Repeal of the 17th Amendment. Public policy ought to dictate that the interest of the various state would be better represented if the legislatures selected Senators. It would remove much of the money from politics on a national level; at least in Senate races.

Might also consider that political contributions could only come from people living in the political subdivisions associated with the office.

Okay here we go stay with me till the end...

Resend the collection of taxes through paychecks. Then create a national tax and vote holiday on april 14,15,16. During those 3 days you must go to the local court house and pay ALL your taxes for the year in person. After that is completed, you would then vote in national, state and local elections, for the people that would be spending all your money.

The effect? Nearly 100% voter turnout of motivated freshly demonetized tax payers that would have much greater discernment of who they vote for and why.

Tell me that wouldn’t make a difference?

Okay:

1) I go to a conservative school and my professor is very conservative.

2) I don’t want my homework done FOR me, I just need a good lead to get me in the right direction. I don’t actually need a law spelled out for me, I just need some suggestions of areas to look at.
