I’ll wager he knew it was coming.

I’m sure he would have quit anyway. He was fiercely loyal to Imus through the years.
To: onyx
He didn’t ever have to call “Miss Cleo”.

McGuirk’s use of the term “jigaboos” was far more offensive in my book.

The “ho” remark originated from McGuirk and Imus expanded on it.
McGuirk used the phrase “hardcore ho’s” and that’s when Imus responded, “Yeah, that’s some “Nappy Headed Ho’s.”

They should have left it at “hard core hos” and they would still have a job.

McGuirks use of the term jigaboos was far more offensive in my book. I agree and wondered why that remark didn't get near the coverage as "nappy headed hos"

Bernard would occasionally fill in here on a Boston radio station for various hosts.
He often made it a point to undermine the Mission of our Troops including my son and his comrades who were defending his sorry ass over in Iraq.
Life is a bitch eh?

He provided much of the program's dicier content, a great deal of it while doing over-the-top impressions of the late Cardinal John O'Connor and New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin.
You'll notice that the media pundits didn't get all up in arms over the years and years of nasty impressions of Cardinal O'Connor as a drunken, foul-mouthed, Irish cretin. It's only when you tread on one of the protected groups--or in this case, two.
That said, Bernie is a truly funny guy. He won't be hurting for work...

Howard Stern used that word more than once on his old radio show, probably 10-15 years ago.
What a lot of people forget when they compare Stern and Imus is this: the “simulcast” of Stern’s show on E! was not live — it was edited, as necessary, before the actual TV broadcast.
Granted, the radio show was live, but the guy who started the crusade against Imus after his “ho” remark claimed to have heard it on MSNBC. And MSNBC carried his show live, of course.
If MSNBC had played Imus’ radio show (from earlier the same day) from 10PM-1AM, none of this probably would have happened.
Stern had a certain safeguard with the E! network - a safeguard which Imus never had with MSNBC.
