Move on from abortion? Not on your life!
vanity | April 20, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/20/2007 9:51:11 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

I hate to say it again, but guess it has to be said:

Free Republic is a conservative site.

As a conservative site, we are pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-liberty, pro-America.

Like-minded folks know immediately what this means and why we will never "move on from abortion" as Rudy Giuliani and his supporters ask us to do.

Think about it.

You might as well be asking us to deny God. To deny the Creator that gave us life and liberty. To give up our children. To surrender our country to the left. To give up our freedom. To give up our faith and our belief in God's Word.

Why insult us like this?

IMHO, the root difference between conservatism and liberalism IS our belief in God. For the most part, we conservatives defend our Christian/Judeo founding and our God-centered traditional American society and family values system, and the belief that our most fundamental rights were bestowed upon us by our Creator. Rights given by man can be taken by man. Rights bestowed by God are unalienable rights.

Liberals, on the other hand, especially the Marxist/socialist liberal leadership and the big leftist feminist, homosexualist, abortionist, anti-religion organizations deny God exists. They deny our Christian/Judeo heritage, work overtime to destroy our traditional family values, and seek to destroy our freedoms, including, and especially our right to the free exercise of religion.

Our deeply rooted conservative belief in God and refusal to roll over for feminism, abortionism, homosexualism, socialism, etc., is the only thing stopping the left from completely overwhelming us with their godless, socialist perversions and completely wiping out our traditional Christian/Judeo God-centered free society.

If we cave-in to the left by nominating a supporter of abortion rights, gay rights, gun control, illegal aliens, etc., as our candidate for the presidency and de facto leader of the Republican party, then we will have destroyed our own pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-liberty movement and will have destroyed all of our prior pro-life, pro family, pro-liberty work. The Republican party will have made itself a joke. It'll be left standing for nothing. Worse, it'll be left standing with NARAL, NOW, the ACLU, and every other feminist/homosexualist Marxist/socialist communist group.

Surrender to the abortionists? Not on your life!

This is Free Republic. We ARE the dissent! We fight for life and liberty! We fight for our traditional American family values! We proudly and diligently defend our Christian/Judeo heritage, our country, our constitution, and our right to be free and to freely worship our God!

IMHO, those of you who cannot or will not understand these simple truths will never understand what FR is all about, what the pro-life movement is all about, what conservatism is all about, or even what freedom is all about.

Why are you Rudy-haters so quick to anger?

They're not Rudy haters. They're just haters.

You’re sure good at bringing it all together, in a very respectful and instructional fashion.

They're not Rudy haters. They're just haters.

A long time ago, on a Free Republic far, far away, a ragged band of conservative activists was labeled "Clinton haters" for daring to speak the truth about liberalism and Clintonism.

Now many of those same conservatives are being labeled "Rudy haters" for the exact same reason - for speaking the truth about Rudy's liberalism.

And we were called haters both times for the exact same reason - because the truth we spoke could not be countered by fact and reason, so our opponents will try to label us haters as a replacement for fact and reason.

But just as we ended up being correct about Clinton, we will be found correct about Rudy.

The problem is that people are attacking good conservative FReepers who disagree with them on just one issue: the nominee. Some don’t even disagree with them on that.

They are not the enemy.

Clinton was slime.

Your tactics calling Rudy critics "haters" is straight from the Clintonista playbook.

This is a conservative website, and Rudy is from the far left of the GOP. He is liberal on core conservative positions such as abortion, guns and the gay agenda. He also is strongly authoritarian and disregards laws he doesn't like.

None of those are a trait conservatives want in a nominee.

It’s not right to call good FReepers baby killers and liberal trolls. Especially since many of them are pro-life.

Here's the problem - a fair number of the Rudy boosters are engaging in the rankest of political opportunism to push their liberal candidate.

For example, they will raise the issue that Fred made a statement in 1994 that could be construed as pro-choice.

Beyond the fact that Fred subsequently has a perfect 0 from NARAL, where they hell do they get off even raising the abortion issue when their guy has a 100 rating from NARAL, addressed NARAL twice, believes both abortion and public funding of such are constitutional rights, and once said he'd pay for his granddaughter to get an abortion? That is the kind of crap from some Rudy boosters that draws the most conflict on FR. If they want to support a liberal, so be it. Just don't turn around and call any other kettle black when your pot is as black as they come.

If they are so pro-life, why are they supporting a guy with a 100 percent NARAL rating who also thinks that abortion and public funding for such are constitutional rights? They either aren't really pro-life, or are willing to toss core values aside to support Rudy.

Fred seems like a good guy to me. I’m not going rip him.

However, if you don’t like what they say about him, tell them where they are wrong.

Life just ain’t a black and white world for me. No, I don’t support Rudy. If I lean toward anyone it’s maybe Romney so please be suspicious and beat me up for that if anything. If I like Fred when I get to see him, I’ll consider him but I haven’t seen much of him. But if it comes to any Democrat versus Rudy, I’ll chose Rudy. That’s where I make my principled stand. If that’s not good enough for you well I expect you might be in store for some mighty tough times ahead. I do, however, respect your opinion and I’m interested in listening. But be assurd, I haven’t been playing any BS game with you.

You're missing the point.

They try to raise issues about Fred when Rudy has the exact same issues, just far, far worse.

So if they don't care about those issues with Rudy, why is it an issue with Fred? It's rank hypocrisy.

If Giuliani wins the election it will be with Democrat votes, liberal Democrat votes. He will owe his success to liberal Democrats and will treat them appropriately. He will be effectively a Democrat president with a Democrat Congress. He will be more effective at installing Liberal Democrat policies than a Democrat would be.That is a fact of life. Saying that the conservatives and Christians are Stupid for not voting for him accomplishes nothing. It is a fact of life that Conservatives and Christians will mostly not vote for him.

It's not that. It's that their major priority is the WOT.

The big problem is that the primaries now are so timed that it is all over in one Tuesday far too early in the season for most folks to be paying attention yet. Early name recognition is what will decide the nominations.
