It seems that conservatives are about to make the same mistake that they made in 2000. Every Cassandra warned the movement conservatives that GW Bush was a liberal, but they were all duped by his "compassionate conservatism," which we since have learned really means "liberal globalism."
Now, despite all the warnings, they are about to be conned by Fred Thompson too - another neocon (aka liberal globalist). Will they get what they deserve? Can people really be so shortsighted? In 2011 will we hear GOP cheerleaders, "If only I had known...."
Let's look at Fred Thompson on the issues.
First and foremost, let's ponder immigration, the greatest threat facing the West today. As Jean Raspail foretold in Camp of the Saints, the "best conservative novel ever written," a third-world invasion of the West is taking place, and we must make a stand - before it is too late.
Although tough talking on border control, Fred Thompson has a rather weak record from his time in the Senate. Americans for Better Immigration only gave him a career grade of C. And on chain migration, visa lotteries, reducing unnecessary visas, asylum fraud, and reducing amnesties, he received rather low marks.
Thompson is almost certainly pro-abortion, regardless what he feigns. He has said, "The ultimate decision must be made by the woman." In other words, he believes it's a "choice."
Thompson is pro-affirmative action, and his two votes in the Senate guaranteed that under-qualified minorities would be given preference over Euro-Americans (i.e. white people). Thompson obviously believes that victimology should trump hard work.
And like all neocons, Thompson supports free trade, which is destroying our economy and undermining our sovereignty. Historically, conservatives opposed free trade, and they should; it's national suicide. But Thompson like many GOP cheerleaders has been "neoconned" on this issue.
In foreign policy, Fred Thompson is an adamant neocon globalist. He is a fellow at the neocon American Enterprise Institute, and a member of the neocon / neoliberal Council on Foreign Relations, which supports the creation of a North American Union and the eradication of American sovereignty.
In short, Fred Thompson is no real conservative. He's a neocon globalist. Only look at his past actions, memberships and words.
We already have three real conservatives in the running (Tom Tancredo, Ron Paul, and Duncan Hunter) and let's give them the support they deserve. If Fred Thompson receives the nomination, I'm voting Constitution Party.
Please, lets get this correct....Rudy's never worn a dress. That's his alter-ego. Please address him as "Ruby" while in drag.
He sounds like an ultra-rightwing Pat Buchanan-type. I am very suspicious of anyone who throws around the term neocon. To these types (on the right), anyone left of Genghis Khan is a liberal.
I don't care if he tried to uncover possible corruption by a Republican. I don't like corruption in either flavor, Republican or Democrat. Seems to redound to his credit that he was willing to go against members of his party to get to the TRUTH.
Voice recognition software?

He cast the lone dissenting vote (99-1) in several senate votes. I don’t think he has a courage problem.
O.K., My mistake. There was no candidate on the Republican side that did not give me some kind of dread until it was floated that Fred may run. No matter what some say, Fred gets "it" and is a rock solid conservative, his votes prove it.
Now, I'm not a T.V. watching guy, didn't even know Fred was on Law and Order. Had no idea what he was doing after leaving the Senate. That said, I watched an episode last week to see how his character was portrayed. His character was that of a strong, plain spoken "man". I emphasize man in that there are few who are portrayed as men on the T.V. today. That will help a great deal when he enters the race.
As for his committee hearings re: illegal foreign campaign contributions, the deck was stacked against him big time. I was also naive at the time in that I thought those hearings would matter. John Glenn was a hero of mine until those hearings. A lot came out in those hearings that the MSM would never cover, and what Glenn did to get his space shuttle ride was simply incredible. The problems with financing campaigns is simply huge. I don't blame Fred for his efforts, and I forgive him for McCain-Feingold because he has admitted it made matters worse.
Fred is a man who was not enamored with Washington, the opposite seems to be true. He is not a Washington insider. He is self made and plain spoken, yet his message is powerful to everyone, especially Conservatives. He is not a panderer. He states what he means. Since He seems to agree with me on 90+ percent of the issues, I simply cannot wait until he enters the race. Conservatives need a strong voice, and Fred has that voice.
Matt
In many ways Fred is the most conservative candidate in the race, and is much more conservative than W. Specifically, he is the strongest philosophy of limited Constitutional government and a best record on federalism and returning rightful power to the states.

“...Still, he acknowledged that his views may have evolved since he first entered office. ``I must say that the issue means more to me now than it did back then,’’ he said. Thanks to sonograms, ``We now know just how developed the fetus is after just a few weeks,’’ he said. ...”
... he said the issue ``means more’’ to him now because he has had two children in recent years. ``I have seen the sonograms of my babies,’’ he said in an e-mail on April 17....

We’ve been working hard to promote Hunter, but not a lot of news reports on him. Which means digging back, and even then he doesn’t get as much coverage as Giuliani or McCain, or even Thompson.
Suffice it to say, revealing the record of probably the most liberal candidate in the history of the GOP nomination process is how we bide our time.
No.6, do a search for threads using keyword “Duncan Hunter”. You will find many articles extolling this great candidate. Unfortunately, the media gives him scant coverage at this point, so not 1000s of articles to choose from.
BTW, one of the primary focuses of this forum is to expose liberalism. Rudy is a liberal.
Clumsy fingers.
Fred Thompson is solidly conservative.
Even conservatives such as Duncan Hunter have a liberal voting record on spending issues. Ron Paul's support of the WOT is shaky but misunderstood to a lot of conservatives. Tancredo keeps putting his foot in his mouth.
Thompson is heads and shoulders above the rest of them, he is conservative which will rub off on non-voters and independents. He can appeal to these people without compromising.
My voice recognition software makes mistakes like that all the time. I.e., They = Day. It gets 99% of the words right, but the one it misses always seems to be the word that makes or breaks the idea you are trying to express. And you have to read the whole thing carefully to make sure you didn’t make any embarrasing mistakes.
>I won’t settle for anything but a conservative.<
NEVER COMPROMISE AGAIN!! Only the insane keep repeating the same mistake!
But it has been known for a long time--"politics ain't beanbag"
Stick with the record, examine the character, listen to their words--if the man or woman turns out to be a wax figure which melts under the heat--so be it...
And he's being backed by Howard Baker, another man with a history of tolerating, no corruption, even -- no, . make that especially -- in his own party.
Gore was the only reason I voted for GWB. I didn’t vote for his New World Order father the second time. Wake up, people! If we don’t get a true conservative in this time, we never will again! GO DUNCAN HUNGER!
