April 20, 2007 -- IN a disturbing voice-mail message recorded on April 11, Alec Baldwin called his 11-year-old daughter, Ireland, "a rude, thoughtless little pig" after she didn't answer her phone for a court-ordered conversation. Baldwin left a two-minute rant, shouting, "I made an a - - out of myself trying to make this call . . . You have insulted me for the last time. You don't have the brains or the decency as a human being." Insiders told Page Six the message was submitted as sealed evidence during Wednesday's custody hearing over Baldwin and his ex-wife Kim Basinger's rights to their daughter.....

UPDATE: Basinger’s publicist, Annette Wolfe, told TMZ: “The voicemail speaks for itself.”
UPDATE: A friend of Alec Baldwin’s just contacted TMZ to say that the actor called Ireland last week and apologized for his outburst. The friend added that Ireland is the most important thing in the world to Alec and that he is frustrated because over the last six years, Kim has “tried everything” to alienate Ireland from him.
UPDATE: Alec Baldwin’s spokesperson released the following statement to the TV show “EXTRA”: “In the best interest of the child, Alec will do what the mother is pathologically incapable of doing ... keeping his mouth shut and obeying the court order. The mother and her lawyer leaked this sealed material in violation of a court order. Although Alec acknowledges that he should have used different language in parenting his child, everyone who knows him privately knows what he has been put through for the past six years.”
Why did you post to this thread? Obviously this was an important enough of a subject for you to make a comment.
The fact its been released to the public is inexcusable.
The fact the mother did not make sure her daughter showed proper respect to her father is inexcusable.
The fact the mother did not make the daughter obey court requirements is inexcusable.
I don’t agree with with the what the guy did, but the reality is, he was set up and trapped by a bitter spouse in an ugly divorce. I won’t condemn the guy for being frustrated, I condemn the mother for clearly setting him up and the fact this tape has been released to the public clearly shows the truth of the situation.
She’s out to harm him in any way possible, using their children, the press, etc. Fairly typical... divorce is a nasty affair, and it does nothing but scar children and make attorney’s rich.

Well obviously Alec did everything he could within his own power to alienate his daughter from him.
He didn’t call the mother a thoughtless little pig, he called his daughter that!
No excuse, what he did can cause damage that a girl never gets over.
Sheesh, nothing like having your father hate you to eff up your life forever.

And he walked right into it, doing exactly to his daughter what you are accusing the mother of doing to the daughter. His relationship with his daughter is not about him, it is about her. If he is not adult enough to behave accordingly, he will reap the consequences. That conversation was all about him. His apology is STILL all about him. I'm sorry...but "her mother caused me to do this" defense sounds exactly like the VT killer's defense.

You put anything on paper or computer or on a recorder, you better realize it could get out and be solid evidence.
Same principle applies to these “celebrities” as a whole - they whine about having no “privacy”, but the reality is that people are going to pry, and magazines are going to print, just because they “love” them so much and “want to know everything” about them. It would be nice to have privacy, but they should know that goes with the territory. If they want obscurity and more privacy, they should’ve avoided performing arts.
While I’m sure things could be ugly on all sides here, I don’t care what the backstage story is, HIS *BEHAVIOR* to a child here is inexcusable .

I’ve been around enough divorces, this guy was set up by a bitter ex.... Kids been used as a pawn in her parents Drama play... pretty standard play.. and the mother released something she never should have... and I guarantee you she’s no saint either... I’d bet dollars to doughnuts this girls been having to hear her mother badmouth her father in far worse language to her face for years.

Not defending Alec’s actions, but piling on him for political disagreements with him is naive and disengenuous.
This girl clearly is going to be messed up, but it won’t be completely her fathers fault... trust me on that one.

I understand your handle, because you are indeed pollyannaish if you believe that. Ugly divorces have no innnocent people other than the children. Children are used as pawns and weapons by the parents against each other all the time..
Yes, in a perfect world everyone would act like adults.. but guess what, they don’t. See it all the time.
I’m not condoning what he did, but in terms of divorce and things I’ve seen done by parents to kids in these situations, this doesn’t even make the radar.
The very fact this tape got released shows me the wifes intent.... Doesn’t excuse Alec, but this piling on just because we don’t like him politically is stupid... its what I’d expect from Hannity (who’s none to deep intellectually to begin with). I have no doubt Hannity will spend his entire show today on this.
Those that judge others in these sorts of situations by and large are folks who have no clue what these things are really like. I’ve seen enough of em to know, this is nothing more than drama play.... if it were truly otherwise, and part of some truly abusive pattern, it would be in private court documents not released to the press... it was a trap, and I’ve seen women do this to men time and again. Withhold access to their children, abuse them in the courts, lie, refuse to let them speak or see their kids in spite of court orders, falsely accuse them abuse, etc etc etc... like to their kids, brainwash them, do anything they can to hurt their former spouse and then when the spouse finally has enough, try to use their reations as examples of their “typical” behaviors... etc etc etc.
Let the courts do their job, and keep this crap out of the press... but since they didn’t do that, pretty damned obvious what the intent of this was.
I need to remember that line...... :-).
