36 California schools under lockdown (Thank you NBC)

Authorities put all 36 schools in 12 Northern California school districts under lockdown Thursday as police searched for a man who claimed he was planning an armed attack that would “make Virginia Tech look mild.”

Sutter County sheriff’s officers were looking for Jeffery Thomas Carney, 28, a transient. Undersheriff J. Paul Parker told MSNBC-TV that Carney telephoned his pastor and and family members Wednesday night to say he had an automatic weapon, improvised explosive devices and poison.

Sheriff’s officials said Carney made no specific threat to any particular place. But because of the reference to the massacre of 32 students and professors Monday at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, principals at all 36 of the schools in the county’s 12 school districts shut down their campuses and locked students in for safety, Assistant Superintendent Linda Protine said.

I think the public needs to see the face of this evil bastard and absorb some of the rantings of this lunatic if for no other reason than to have some sort of information to digest.
Honestly, if we knew nothing, it leave a feelings that are hard to understand as well as an empty fear. Seeing bits of information like this allows me to turn those feelings into a pure hatred, and I needed a face and personality to assiciate it with.
The only thing I find somewhat insensitive is that it was released too soon. Out of respect for the famlies, a few weeks break from it would have been in order, purely out of respect.

Rush took NBC, it’s cable network PMSNBC and the Drive-by media to task today. I have never heard him so angry and upset. NBC is to blame for the copycat BS.

Then Rush was an idiot today. Those videos belong to the citizens of this country and we have the right to see them. Many of us are going to be affected greatly by this shooting and yet you think that we have no right to see what was going on in this guy's head?

I wonder if Rush also thought the 9/11 videos were too traumatic for the family members as well.

I agree. I think NBC shjould have given it a couple days, announced that they were going to present it once and only once, in its entirety. I suspect they managed some selective editing that prevents the left from being too closely linked to this loser, and others continue to speculate about the Sudden Jihad Syndrome aspects. NBC could have removed a whole lot of speculation and questions by airing it in its entirety, and I really don't think it would have been all that flattering to Cho. I also think showing it once, in its entirety would have been as provocative as showing a few selectively edited out-takes, over and over again. Of course it would have ended up all over the net, but thats part of living in a free society.

Personally, I'm amazed at the number of people on this board who are so vehemently against this having aired. Has the American right become as intellectually inconsistent as the left? We spent all day Tuesday and Wednesday arguing that the American citizenry is mature and responsible enough that concealed carry should be the law of the land, and then we spent all day Thursday (and I'm guessing Friday) arguing that American public can't handle the showing of this video.
