I think it has more to do with his totally abandoning her, and only wanting back in after she became famous.

Sorry, the growing number of innacurate statements on this site over the past several months, and especially this week have been driving me nutso. It’s become the exact opposite of one of the good things that drew me to this site to begin with - fact checking.

"...fact checking."

You want all this fun and fact checking too?

IIRC he expressed concern during an interview about her behavior when she was married to Billy Bob Thornton. According to Voight they were “cutting” themselves and he was worried about her and thought she needed help.

The following is from a fan site. I think her father is right she needs help and remember this woman is raising children. Lord help them.

At 14, she had her first boyfriend move in with her at her mother’s house. She began body-cutting in order to “feel something emotionally” but felt that she had herself together by the time she was 16. It was then that she seriously committed herself to her career, getting her own apartment and beginning to study acting in earnest. Jolie appeared in several music videos and won her first film lead in “Hackers,” a 1995 cyberthriller. Even then, some six years before her first Golden Globe, she was no stranger to awards shows. Jane magazine recently devoted a full page to a picture of Angelina at eleven or twelve, all mouth and eyes and Eighties hair, decked out in pearls and white lace, accompanying her father to the Oscars. “I’m surprised I went to another one of those things after that,” she says, looking at the picture.

Jolie collects knives and has talked freely about using them in sex play. In 1996, she married actor Jonny Lee Miller, age 24, (best known for his role as Sick Boy in Trainspotting) wearing a silk blouse decorated with his name written in her blood and tattooed on her arm. Both young and involved in different projects, they soon separated amiably. Her junkets with heroin were apparently during the 1998 HBO flic, “Gia,” about a doomed, drug-addicted bisexual supermodel. In 1999 she continued roles with psychotic overtones, “The Bone Collector,” “Pushing Tin” and “Sixty Seconds.”

In June 2000, she married Billy Bob Thornton, four times divorced and 19 years older, a union that was still sizzling a year later.

“I’m obsessed with Billy. I always want more. I can’t have enough of him.” She also continued her obsession with blood and tattoos, wearing an amulet with Billy Bob’s blood around her neck and his name tatooed on her arm.

Take it easy. I specifically said I didn’t know why she hated him. I honestly never bothered to find out. I despise Jolie not because she is a liberal, but because she took so much pleasure in that Vanity Fair spread she did with Pitt after all their denials. I don’t like anyone who goes out of their way to cause pain. I could care less if, politically, she were the next Reagan. She lost any respect I would have had for her when she publicly rubbed Aniston’s nose in the fact that she had stolen her husband.

I know nothing about Voight at all.

That expression of concern came after she had cut him out of her life. It was and interview he gave to E! when she had adopted Maddox and he was begging to be reconciled with her and meet his grandson.

And frankly, that interview was given 5 years. I’m willing to give her the benefit of the doubt that she has grown up a lot in that time. And I’ve never seen anything in the press to make me think she isn’t a good mother.

"I’m sure it has nothing to do with him being a womanizing a-hole who left her mother when Angelina was just a baby. Oh and for spilling the beans to the whole world that she had adopted Maddox before it was even finalized.

But hey, she’s a liberal, so it must be her fault."

Is that you Mrs. Voight? :)

Do keep up. I stopped using Jolie-Voight years ago. It's just Jolie now. :)

I heard Voight interviewed on the radio last Saturday morning and was shocked at finding out he has some conservativism in him.

Voight is a graduate of Archbishop Stepinac HS in White Plains NY. With the notable exception of Alan Alda, the school has not been known to produce many whiny liberals.

Wow, I'm officially an out of touch geezer.

I had no idea Jon Voight was Angelina Jolie's father.

As far as the interview goes, another Wow, this one about something that actually matters.

What a great guy. Sounded very well rounded. Careful with his words too.

He gets hugh respect from me for actually visiting the wounded troops, then speaking so highly of them, instead of blathering on like so many other Hollyweird types without the intestinal fortitude to witness the sacrifices the troops are making for us and get first hand reports of what they're doing over there.

Heck Hollyweird, any liberal. I wonder if Nancy Pelosi or any of the DemonRAT leadership bothers to go to Walter Reed? If Pelosi visited Walter Reed, it might wipe that permanent S-eating grimace off her post-tensioned face. I take it back, I don't think any of the troops would want to see her, probably do more harm than good.

I liked the fact that he sees the war on terror in historical perspective, and as a long term effort with far reaching consequences.

I especially liked the fact that he was very tactful and diplomatic in telling the reporter to his face that he basically thinks reporters are LYING LIBERAL POND SCUM.

I can't say that I've been a big fan or followed his career. I've only seen a few of the many movies he's made, mostly the hits, Midnight Cowboy, Catch-22, Deliverance, The Odessa File, Mission: Impossible, and Enemy of the State, but he's always done a great job with his characters.

At first, I thought he played the part of "Stevie!, you gotta do it or they're gonna throw you in the pit" in the Deer Hunter, but after looking it up, I found out that was John Savage.

I don't know why I thought he played "Stevie", they don't look alike at all.

Anyway, kuddos to John Voight, and thanks for posting this, I'll pay more attention to him from now on.

He play John Paul II on the tv movie.

I saw an interview with him about the role on EWTN and was surprised to learn he is a reasonable guy. I remember going to an anti-war rally back in 1972 (IIRC) when I was a dumb twenty-year-old. Voight was the featured speaker. All I can remember from his speech was that he looked really uncomfortable about the whole thing. That was about the time it dawned on me that the anti-war crowd was driven by a bunch of commies who didn't want to improve the U.S.A. but tear it down. It was the beginning of my endless growing up process.
