Did political correctness play a role here? Is it at all possible that strong action was not taken against him because he was a member of an ethnic minority?
Did you know that both houses of the Virginia legislature unanimously passed legislation within the past year or so that barred Virginia colleges and universities from expelling a student on the basis of mental instability? Virginia colleges and universities were also banned from suspending or expelling a student because of an attempted suicide or the expression of suicidal thoughts?

Some might say that if the killer hadn’t attacked at VT, he would have attacked elsewhere. After picking up tidbits here and there about the nutcase, I tend to agree.
It is the lawyers that make everyone afraid to expel or otherwise discipline someone.
he was a bomb waiting to go off for sure..
I just don’t think we make blanket laws or procedures that cover EVERY possible situation....someone will always come up with some weird series of circumstances that we did not anticipate.
The only thing we can do is prepare ourselves to shoot any sicko who tries this crap again.
I suppose it’s lucky he didn’t actually try to use bombs, McVeigh style or something.
But something evil was gonna happen one way or the other with that guy.
VT failed it’s students by not allowing premited conceal to carry on campus.
Three school shootings were stopped by citizens who were armed.
And the Texas tower shootings years ago the sniper had to stay low because a college professor with a rifle was returning fire at him.
a caller to the Mark Levin show stated that we can thank the ACLU in part for this tragedy for they prevent any investigation into a persons mental health history. if this nuts mental history could have been investigated it is possible that he would have been disqualified from purchasing a firearm.
Just as Cho watched the media’s feeding frenzy at Columbine when he was 13, thus showing him how a disaffected youth with “issues” gains fame in this country, so there is no doubt at least one...probably more...such deformed souls watching the absolutely over-the-top msm coverage of the VT massacre and planning to beat Cho’s record.
After you set the new record, you send your video to a media outlet and it gets played all over the world with your crazy pictures and scribblings publicized and pondered over for at least three days, and everyone pays attention to you. Such a person will gladly die for this shot at fame.
There were no mass shootings by young men before the advent of television. That should give a clue to all the TV “experts” who make money analyzing this “phenomenon.”
It is the lawyers that make everyone afraid to expel or otherwise discipline someone.
That, and other considerations. I feel that ethnicity had nothing to do with anything. I posted yesterday about a student who stalked my niece for two years. He was just a garden variety White Guy. "He had been expelled for stalking a previous year", but "They had to let him back in".
(Parents were alumni, plus of course the matter of tuition revenues).
The point is, there are some weirdos on every campus, and for whatever reason, they are protected species.
Perhaps this will finally bring some accountability to administrations.
PC killed those 32 students...
The lawyers hands are dirty but in the final analysis they are only the faciltators.
Thank the enablers...the liberal, left-wing, politically correct college and university adminstrations and the VA state legislature.
Oh please. The lawyer who commenced the lawsuit referenced in the article didn't act on his own. He was consulted by the parents of the nut job who had previously been suspended from another Virgina University, and he probably advised the parents that they may have a claim against the school under the American's with Disabilities Act ("ADA") -- which was signed into law by a Republican -- because the ADA requires colleges and universities to provide reasonable accommodations to disabled people, including certifiable nut-jobs. The lawyer didn't write the law -- the idiots in Congress did -- and the lawyer would have committed malpractice if he didn't advise his clients of their rights under the law, including their right to sue. If anyone is at fault, its the liberal mindset that believes that we must mainstream the mentally ill into society.
As I worked last night, everytime I went to the break room I was bombarded by Larry King CNN and all I thought was these A-holes are doing just what this freak wanted. The MSM is loving this. This a-hole is a msm dream. Go out and shoot ‘em up, send multi-media package to msm then shoot ‘em up some more. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY, news is money. I feel so sick over this. God Bless the families. I can’t imagine their pain.

Are you serious!? One would think that mental stability would be paramount to gun purchase, but then are we entering uncertain waters? I mean, then they’ll move the scale down as to what constitutes as “mental instability”-—they could ultimately declare “conservatism” as mental instability.
But, you’re right, this is outrageous.
I would say the Virginia Legislature (politicians) failed our students.
It was not only the school & the whole PC thing that has been going on as well. Political corectness is what killed those people. Cho should have been locked up in a padded room long ago, but the pc crowd felt sorry for him. And thus this event happened!
We have to be very wary of bad law coming from this. Bad law most likely contributed to the magnitude of this disaster and bad law will most likely be its offspring.
What do you think the vast majority of the “idiots in congress” are?
They’re lawyers.
