Some might say that if the killer hadn’t attacked at VT, he would have attacked elsewhere. After picking up tidbits here and there about the nutcase, I tend to agree.
It is the lawyers that make everyone afraid to expel or otherwise discipline someone.
I just don’t think we make blanket laws or procedures that cover EVERY possible situation....someone will always come up with some weird series of circumstances that we did not anticipate.
The only thing we can do is prepare ourselves to shoot any sicko who tries this crap again.
VT failed it’s students by not allowing premited conceal to carry on campus.
Three school shootings were stopped by citizens who were armed.
And the Texas tower shootings years ago the sniper had to stay low because a college professor with a rifle was returning fire at him.
PC killed those 32 students...
I would say the Virginia Legislature (politicians) failed our students.
It was not only the school & the whole PC thing that has been going on as well. Political corectness is what killed those people. Cho should have been locked up in a padded room long ago, but the pc crowd felt sorry for him. And thus this event happened!
But, I want to know: Is this a “gun-free” event?
We have to start asking this question, frequently, & refuse to participate or attend when an event is a gathering of defenseless participants. It is a good way to get people’s attention, other that mass murder.
I’ll be curious to see how many parents send their kids back to VT, a school just as defenseless today as on Monday.
What about the thousands of other OBVIOUSLY mentally disturbed students currently out there in our schools? Cho cannot be the only one, & his instructors & fellow students knew he was nuts & possibly dangerous. Even the state of VA knew it. I’ll bet there are more at VT who pose a threat to themselves & others, as there are at all schools in the USA. And I’ll bet that they are known to many on campus. Wonder how many of them have guns in these “gun-free” zones?
If VA & VT are gonna mandate “gun-free” zones, then they assume the responsibility of protecting the faculty, admin, & students from THEMSELVES as well as intruders. Therefore, they need to erect a tall chain-link fence topped with razor-wire around the school, install metal detectors & security searches at entrances, increase security patrols to include dorms & classroom areas, & have frequent, unannounced searches of the campus, especially dorm rooms.
Sounds like a jail, doesn’t it?
I just heard on Fox that due to the way laws in Va. are written, a person who attends mental health counseling voluntarily, after a court decision, the record of them having attended counseling is not released and, therefore, background checks for firearms purchases do not get this record of the person attending counseling sessions.
Are we just turning our universities into extensions of our basic school system, i.e., K-16? Or are we turning our universities into remedial high school (9-12 repeated)?

“They had gun control on campus and it got all those people killed, because nobody could defend themselves,”
Its all about gathering tuitions, grants and student loans. I was never impressed with getting any degrees because of this. I know I’ll get flamed about this but its my view and even though its made me not as competitive in the job market its always been to me that the American teaching system has been a total failure.
