Is America ready to pay reparations for slavery?
Well, it could happen if Barack Obama lands the White House.
You might say, Doesn't Sen. Obama oppose reparations for slavery?
Well, no. He doesn't.
In fact the reparations crowd in Washington and Chicago is salivating at the prospect Obama might stumble into the White House and put them on track for a reparations gravy train for slavery that took place centuries ago.
To tackle the topic, first, a simple question: Is Obama opposed to reparations? Indeed, the question is not so simple. Nothing is ever simple and straightforward where Obama and words come together.
Obama's pirouettes on the question of reparations would enchant any balletomane; his position always depends on who is asking and who is listening. And who is watching.
Prior to his election to the U.S. Senate in 2004, Obama opposed reparations for slavery. After his election, Obama subtly changed his view, stating he was against "just signing over checks to African-Americans," leaving open the possibility of other forms of reparations would be acceptable to him (Chicago Tribune Nov. 14, 2004).
Second, whom does Barry O "hang" with?
Well, Obama hangs with the reparations crowd. Now guilt by association is certainly unfair. But if you hang with the reparations crowd, they must see something in you they like.
And here, indeed they do.
U.S. Rep. John Conyers, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, is reportedly waiting for Obama to be elected so Conyers can rush a reparations law through Congress (The Hill, March 13, 2007). Hmmm. Does Conyers know something we don't?
Slavery is still alive and well today. It is called illegal alien, human trafficking. All who hire these nannies, gardeners, etc. are guilty of this crime and need to pay reparations to their “employees” who owe theyir coyote $$$’s.
It will never happen. That ‘peaked’ with the Clinton era, and has been receeding ever since.
Surest way to lose the election is to agree that reparations are something to think about. No way anyone that will be writing those checks will vote for the guy, of course those GETTING the checks will go 99.99% his way....
A better question might be, are we ready for Civil War II? Because it might happen if we start punishing a majority of the population for something they didn’t do.
Of course, no one today is personally responsible for any slavery, punishing us for any of it is unjustifiable.
If reparations do occur, then there is no justifiable reason to continue affirmative action programs in public or private businesses.
Slaves are bought, not hired. Your hyperbole betrays itself.
My great- great- great- (?) grandparents sold the kids into indentured servitude.
Can I get reparations even though my skin reflects a fair amount of light?

No, I can say ‘never’ at this point for one very simple reason.
Since the Clinton era, when ‘reparations’ became a ‘big thing’ politically, there has been a significant change.
African Americans are no longer the largest minority.
The moment that became reality, this nonsense died.
Think about it.
Reparations will happen as soon as a Dem gets elected. The Dems will push this, with their white, “moderate” colleagues telling the sheeple that only the wealthy will pay. Then the GOP will go along so that no one dare call them bigoted. Game. Set. Match. Just like every single other item in the liberal agenda.
Just let me know when my slavery reparations check is ready.
Hmmm. That being the case, do I get reparaions for West Texas? My Comanche ancestors were owners of some of the greatest oil and gas reserves in North America until the Buffalo Wars. I look forward to the event with great anticipation.......and tongue in cheek.

I will pay reparations for all the slaves that I have owned...none.
I think it IS time. Every African American that was ever a slave step up for your payment.
