TRENTON, N.J. - Last year, New Jersey law officers ticketed 271,182 people for not wearing seat belts in violation of state law. This year, one will stand out: Gov. Jon S. Corzine, who was critically injured in an automobile accident last week.
David Wald, spokesman for state Attorney General Stuart Rabner, wouldn't say why state police assigned to protect the governor didn't insist Corzine obey the seat belt law.
"As always, we urge all drivers and passengers to wear seat belts," Wald said.
Corzine, 60, broke multiple bones in the wreck and remains hospitalized in intensive care, breathing with the help of a respirator.

The lesson the only thing that can come between a politician and a camera is physics. Oh yeah? Well, they'll re-write the laws of physics next.

The arrogant self-appointed elite think the laws they make are for everyone but themselves, that they're exempt from having to live under them like the rest of us. Well, some laws just can't be messed with. The laws of nature are no respecter of persons.
Surprise, surprise Corzine. Guess what? You weren't above the laws of physics. Didn't expect that, did you?

No seat belt at 91 mpg? Sounds like an open-and-shut case for RESIGNING his office. If he can be that stupid, he’s clearly incapacitated and unable to perform his duties.

Has anyone heard whether the unfortunate state trooper driving him asked him to put on his seatbelt and was refused, or was such insolent behavior verboten?
I say “unfortunate” because I think it is beneath the job of a trooper to be a chauffeur for “dignitaries” such as these.

David Wald, spokesman for state Attorney General Stuart Rabner, wouldn't say why state police assigned to protect the governor didn't insist Corzine obey the seat belt law. I read an article a few days ago where the same question was asked and a Corzine spokesman said, "the Governor wasn't always amendable to suggestion."

The reason the copper didn’t tell Corzine to buckle up is that he wanted to keep on being the guv’s driver and not get reassigned to the one man post in East Overshoe.

Are you saying that if a multi-billionaire is in a 90 MPH crash without a seatbelt, he will get tossed about like a salad, just like us commoners??
I am stune.d
But I hope he gets well.

The CorzineCrushDummy demonstrated how not wearing seat belts can make dummy subject to thrust from the air bag and subsequent flight towards the back and cargo space, with broken ribs, spine and legs.
Lesson? I will wear them annoying belts even to the next door convenience store when driving a car with them air bags. Those bags can be crippling if one is not held back with belts, they shoot at you!
Oh, and watch your hand across the steering wheel!!!

Few things irritate me more than government officials, especially those in a position to impose laws up on us, openly and proudly flouting the same laws. Officials who do such things should have to endure at least 10x the punishment that us peons should have to endure if we are caught breaking the law.
It looks like God, acting through the laws of physics, did impose that richly deserved penalty on him. A little justice, every so often, feels sooo good.

According to another story that's on FOX today, Corzine's vehicle was going approximately 90 mph! That's only about 10 MPH faster than average traffic on the NJ Turnpike or GS Parkway, if the traffic density is low enough to allow for it.

Ths implies directly that Corzine was ticketed for lack of selt belt compliance. Was he really? Is that true?? or is the AP deliberately making a false implication when in fact the Gov. was not issued a ticket?

The NJ Democratik apparatchiks are already in full spin. mode....and the MSM will play the game on the governor's side also.
The hapless trooper is already being blamed. Then it will be the "flimsy" vehicle. Then it will be President Bush....oh, wait, some media-type has already done that.
Luckily for her, the aide-ette who was in the back seat isn't named Mame.

I guess there really is not much point in pointing out that the state police officer in question did not want to lose his job by telling the governor to buckle up. :)

Thats as futile as rewriting the laws of economics (not that thatll stop em from trying)Exactly my point. That is the mind set of liberals. Their answer to everything, write a new law. Don't let logic, reason, or laws of nature get in the way.
