BLACKSBURG, Va. - The gunman suspected of carrying out the Virginia Tech massacre that left 33 people dead was identified Tuesday as an English major whose creative writing was so disturbing that he was referred to the school's counseling service. News reports also said that he may have been taking medication for depression, that he was becoming increasingly violent and erratic, and that he left a note in his dorm in which he railed against ''rich kids," ''debauchery" and ''deceitful charlatans" on campus. Cho Seung-Hui, a 23-year-old senior, arrived in the United States as boy from South Korea in 1992 and was raised in suburban Washington, D.C., officials said. He was living on campus in a different dorm from the one where Monday's bloodbath began. Police and university officials offered no clues as to exactly what set him off on the deadliest shooting rampage in modern U.S. history.

Well, if the Democrats fail in using the incident for more gun control, their second option will be to use it to raise taxes on the rich.
If they can't get fewer guns, then they'll go for fewer rich to help "solve the problem".
(The "debauchery" will still be peachy with them though...)
“It sounds like the psychobabbling mental health professionals at the school missed the ticking time bomb..”
Yes it does. Especially since he was supposedly referred for help due to his “writings” from his creative writing class. Seems someone should have been watching him closely and his parents notified about his being referred for counseling. I personally would like to know what his behaviors were like when he was in kindergarten! Had problems I suspect.
I think the brain tumor was a bigger factor than his drinking...

I think it's the April effect....April 19, 1993, the Davidians were massacred by Janet Reno, April 19, 1995, the Oklahoma City bombing.
April is a bad month for the US.
What is SSRI? I went to the link, and it wasn’t clear. I am not clear either, on what “Ismial Ax” means.
Probably, the drinking in my opinion was merely an unsuccessful attempt to deal with the mental problems caused by the tumor. The drinking was a symptom of suicidal/homicidal depression prior to his killing spree.
The profile of these school attackers as I recall is largely as follows: Male; few to no friends; obsessed with being masculine; Depressed and suicidal (few survive their attacks); Feel violence is a way to appear manly
To howlin, fuddy, txsleuth suggested I post this re my freepmail to you.
I just finished reading that; amazing.
Must be a living hell, though, huh?
Well, hang in there. Keep up the good fight and don't let the lefties drive you over the edge! :-)
“Eng” could also be “engineering” which would make more sense for VT. It’s not like they teach accuracy in journalism anymore.
What’s with the English-major bashing lately? Some of us are actually conservatives, for heaven’s sake. Geez.
He’s an adult..of legal age..not sure if the school legally can even inform his parents of any problems he’s having..and schools, for decades, have been loathe to serve or act “in loco parentis”
LoL!
Did dry cleaning solvents affect Cho’s brain?
Thanks greyfoxx... looks like I’m having an even more difficult time of keeping up with these threads!
I'm going out on a limb here as what follows is from a report that my wife caught on Fox news.
Other students in the shooter's classes referred to him as "question mark" because he never signed his name to assigned class work. Instead he signed with "?".
My wife is a retired teacher with 35 years experience. Her take on that was the strange signature should have sent up warning flags the first time it happened. It appears that the shooter was badly twisted and a ticking bomb just waiting for the final nudge to blow.
