VA Tech Attack A Premeditated Act Or Jealous Act Of Rage?
Strata-Sphere ^ | April 16th, 2007 | AJStrata

Posted on 04/16/2007 7:59:22 PM PDT by Ernest_at_the_Beach

It seems the Massacre at VA Tech (where I went to school briefly) was premeditated. The reasons are clear in the latest reports. First off the man took a gun to confront his girlfriend, who was more than likely trying to get out of sufficating relationship (I have seen this pattern before, but with less violent results). When he did not get what he wanted and an RA came to deal with the commotion the man pulled his gun and killed the girlfriend and RA. This means the man planned the confrontation and brought the gun with him.

The second act was also premeditated since the man came with guns and clips and the ability to chain the doors (when I was there there were no chains even wrapped on the doors to close them). Finally there is reporting that the bomb threats in the prior weeks were tests of the response time of the authorities. Combined with the news the man was a 24 year old from China shows a combination of military training (not OUR military lefties) and planning.

What really worries me is if this was a test for other attacks. If the man was testing College responses then the key would be to make this look like anything BUT a terrorist attack. I am not making the claim here this was terrorist related, but the man did not seem to be looking for his girlfriend’s lover, he seemed to be out trying to kill anyone he ran across. A perfect diversion for a test run would be a lover’s quarrel. And ending it in a ’suicide’ negates the ability to get to the bottom of his motives. Of course violent jealousy is not uncommon, and more so in male dominated societies like those in Asia and the ME. In those places killing women is like throwing away property. But something is not right here. For someone who was in the emotional throws of jealousy, the attack shows signs of careful planning and cold execution. The two characteristics do not mix. Careful planning and cool execution implies a lot of self control and discipline, things which are in complete opposition to an out of control act of rage.

Update: It seems I am not the only one who thinks this was a well planned out massacre (H/T Flopping Aces):

Well, that’s an interesting scenario presented. I can see how one might come to that scenario. However, it doesn’t mean that it’s the only one that can be constructed from the facts (as they are supposedly known now). We’re still dealing with sketchy information. Obviously law enforcement know more than they are telling.

To analyze it further — talking about “premeditated”, well, possible for the first part, but maybe not. For the girl and the RA, that could have been spur of the moment. The fact that he was carrying a gun may not mean it was premeditated at that time. He may have carried it frequently. We don’t know that for sure.

However, for the second part, now that’s definitely premeditated — but — it could have been *driven* by the spur of the moment killing of his girlfriend and the RA. He had time to leave (and in fact officials thought he did leave; probably did). Then he could have come back with all of those supplies.

But, then again, that brings up the question of why he would have had all that stuff in the first place — namely the guns and ammo, and clips and vest and so on. I mean, maybe he wasn’t planning all this from the beginning — but — why does he have all that stuff prior to today? That’s an interesting question, if this wasn’t all premeditated in the first place (i.e., with his girlfriend).

So, setting aside why he had all that stuff in the first place — one could very well envision someone getting “crazy” over his girlfriend (it’s happened before...), and then killing her plus the RA who was called in to mediate (obviously because things were threatening to get violent; and then, of course did).

And if that was spur of the moment, well..., then he figured there was nothing to lose and he would just go on a rampage and “just show everyone...” (or however someone thinks when they get “whacked” like that).

It was at that point (coming back a bit later) that he was *geared up* for doing some serious damage. That was definitely premeditated. But, still the “premeditation” doesn’t give a reason that we can clearly see. That’s the problem.

As far as his military training — can’t say. Obviously he was a good shot. Maybe someone can get that way by practiciing. I mean, he did have a lot of ammo and guns before he started on all this. So, perhaps he was training on his own for some (as yet) unknown reason. I mean, a lot of U.S. citizens do that all the time, practice shooting and shooting a lot of ammo. Who knows what he was doing with those guns and ammo.

As far as the bomb threats, it’s being reported that the police suspect he was involved in those to test out the university response. Now, if they *can* link him to that — then it’s another whole story. I don’t know whether they can, or they are simply suspicious.

But, this blog writer is taking a lot of this speculative and not totally confirmed information and putting together a “scenario” — that may turn out to totally fall apart, with just *one piece of news* tomorrow.

That’s why you just can’t hinge everything on one scenario or another — just yet.

Star Traveler

My wife is a resident alien. She asked a local dealer if she could buy a weapon for me as a surprise gift. They said “no.”

I also believe that is a distinct possibility. It’s certainly happened before.

You said — “The targets weren’t people to him ~ but may well have been seen as his opportunity to get to Paradise and have at those 72 virgins.”

Now, I’m one to jump on the “Al Qaida bandwagon” as quick as anyone can. But, in this one — you just can’t do that, this quickly. There’s simply not enough information. To link that with the idea of Al Qaida and the 72 virgins is super, super speculative.

It’s so speculative, I might as well say he was a German agent, on loan from the Chinese, and funded by the French, because they want to get rid of Wolfowitz, and Bush gave the okay.

That’s about how speculative your statement is (and that’s coming from someone who sees Al Qaida as a serious threat, from my many other posts).

When the name of the woman in the dorm is released we will know rather quickly through friends and family if she had a relationship with the shooter at Norris. Personally, I do not think that she did, and the initial reports of a domestic shooting was way off, either by design or accident.

Arm yourself. Practice, practice, practice. When the time comes, god forbid, the police can’t be counted on. Remember the LA riots; they refused to leave the station!

I am watching Whoreraldo on FNC. Earlier he was giving vibes as being an investigative reporter. He used to be a decent investigative reporter before he started messing with Al Capone’s safes.

From what I understand, cops were everywhere, but they thought the shooter had left campus—or maybe even the state. I know that sounds REALLY stupid, but that is the exact reason the campus chief and the university president gave—incredibly, unbelievably.

The 2 hour gap? I don’t think anyone knows.

It is possible the shooter, or his now deceased girlfriend, had been engineering students. I think the “mental defective” just decided to take his “mad” out on a whole bunch of innocent people. Something “defectives” are wont to do.

This is not about a girlfriend. If it was he would have shot her, the guy, and then himself. This guy did dry runs with bomb scares, wore a bullet proof vest, was strapped with clips, had 2-9’s, and chained the doors.

Bullshit this is about a girlfriend.

YES! Thank you for that. I find it horrible too. It makes everyone weak. People should be angry at whoever did this monstrous evil.

"From your link:

He locked the doors of several classrooms to stop anyone escaping. Some terrified students jumped for their lives from fourthfloor windows, while others used desks to barricade doors."

But also:

"Another witness said of the killer: 'He had a smile on his face but there was no emotion in his eyes.' . . . Student Matt Maloney told how terrified students used desks to barricade themselves in their classrooms as the gunman walked down the main corridor blasting off shots."

You asked a few questions. I can pose a possible scenario based upon a “whacked out” lover and his girlfriend. Don’t know if that’s true or not, yet — but it’s one definite possibility.

So, your first question —”Why the two-hour gap?”

Well, if we take this scenario I just suggested, then he would not have gone there in the first place to kill her and everyone else, but got “whacked in the head” as a result of a heated argument with her, in which the RA had to come and intervene and mediate. The guy could have been some kind of gun buff before and he could have been in the practice of carrying anyway. So, to pull it out and shoot them, could be a possibility.

So, the two-hour gap happens because he’s “whacked”, he just shot two people and he’s thinking he wants to go and “show them” and shoot up a bunch of other people (however the twisted mind thinks...). And so, he goes back home where he gathers his pre-existing collection of guns and ammo (now that’s an interesting question; why does he have all that?).

And he comes back, ready to do damage now, to fulfill his rage...

Next question — “What’s site #2 got to do with site #1, if jealousy is the motive?”

Well, jealousy is no longer the operative word. “Crazy” becomes the operative word. It’s just “kill some people” to make a statement and to “show the world”. It happens with these other group killings that we seen over the years.

Site #2 relates to Site #1 in that it’s on the other side of campus. Maybe he’s crazy, but he still wants to “carry it off” and he knows if he goes back to that side of campus, he’s liable to be identified quickly and/or he’ll run into the police. So, he carries out his “rampage” away from where he did the first deed, in order to be able to carry it off.

Or — as an alternative scenario to this one particular fact of “location” — he goes over there, because he’s found out that the new boyfriend is somewhere over in that building. And he’s going to shoot people until he finds him.

Last question — “Why weren’t cops everywhere on campus after the first episode?”

Well, that one was answered by the cops, themselves (although some think it’s pretty lame). They looked at it as a simple domestic dispute and issue. So, they locked down that particular building but not the rest of the campus. And, also in light of the fact that they had already had several bomb threats (which apparently did nothing but disrupt everyone), they probably didn’t want to have a kind of campus-wide disruption.

Okay, that’s a “scenario”. AND that’s all it is, because we do not have enough information to do any more than simply *speculate* and *guess* right now.

So, if anyone else want to “guess up a storm” — go right ahead, because that’s all you’ll be doing, just like me...

Star Traveler

I have to agree. I call BS on the passion killing scenario.
There was waaaay too much precision in this operation.

And it was an operation for this maniac.

I don’t think any of us should just let this one slide. Whether the governments involved like it or not (or whether the Pres of Tech likes it or not)we need to INSIST on a satisfactory, and plausible, investigation and resolution. This is just too important. Potentially terrorized minds want, and deserve, to know.
