My husband was naturalized a few years ago, and a Green Card was all that was needed to be in the country. If you possess that, you don’t need any type of visa.

One thing that did happen was a fairly hard anti-gun push in D.C., complete with much dancing-in-the-blood by Democrats. Fortunately at that time, the Republican majority in the House was having none of it.

If he came on a student visa just 8 months ago, no way he has a Green Card yet. If he had a Green Card, no need for the student visa.

But if he got a friend to purchase the weapons, say a friend with a Green Card and who is also Chinese, then you have a clever way of avoiding identification.

While a GREEN CARD, permanent residence in the USA can purchase and have a weapon, under federal law, the possessor of an F-1 STUDENT VISA is NOT given the privilege.

Most foreigners of appropriate age ARE subject to selective service. From the SSS web site:
