To tell the truth, I'm surprised he hasn't been blamed yet.

It will surely come. Blaming President Bush is obligatory........not only by leftists, but by some on this forum.

Glad to see no one's done it yet.....

Continued prayers for the families of those who were slain, and of those who don't yet know where their kids are.

How awful!!

Ummm get real people. What are the odds that SOMEONE doesn’t have a cell phone cam in that area? Everyone has them. It would be more odd if there are not MORE videos out there. Yeesh I think you people are looking for anything you can to pin this on an Islamic Terrorist.

I’m sure they’ll check him out as a potential witness.

Nobody has yet explained how his cellphone video was a signal to his masters, nor how this Chinese/Palestinian organization either exists or what their motives might be.

Or why he would immediately release it to American media, when they were covering it long before the release, anyway.

Take a stab at it.

The guy has to say something, it’s his college. He’s in shock, 32 kids were just murdered. It’s not his fault, he shouldn’t lose his job just because some crazy person decided to kill dozens of people.

If an investigation reveals true incompetence, I’ll be happy to consider the facts as they are known. But for freepers to be calling for firings, or blaming the tech security or communication for what is something that was “shocking” because it was largely unimaginable (for no good reason, just because we don’t want to imagine it), is an emotional reaction I hope and not one of true reason.

From your link, one more post from that same guy, when asked if the buyer could purchase a gun on a student visa:

Mr. Cho had proof of Virginia residency, checkbook (for a second ID), and his green card(which is, of course, not green). That is all he needed to purchase a handgun.

Very interesting if true.

I think this killer was a highly trained soldier.

You know, If I didn't hear of the types and numbers of weapons, I would have withheld judgement.

However, with that being said, having a nearly 50 percent kill/casualty rate is darn near unprecidented!

I couldn't believe that the 'lil ole 9mm and .22 cal. pistols in the hand of a maniac could have killed that many and critically wounded so many. I would suggest that he had so many students in such a small, confined area, that he was able to get alot of head shots.

I would also suggest that this guy had alot of training with IRDs (Immediate reaction drills) with stovepipes, hangfires, and ammo despensing discipline.

I am very, very good with my SIG pistols, however, I can't envision having such a horrific ratio of fatalities to casualties. Had this jerk used an AR 15, not withcounting head shots, my supplication would be that there would be the normal 20 percent KIA/80 percent WIA.

Also, look at the Amish shooting recently, They guy KIA/WIA 50/50 of those amish girls with shotguns with headshots at close range. 5 of those girls are still alive and on respirators. I think one passed recently though.

Very interesting thread. He is referred to as Mr. Cho and the supposed gun store owner said he bought a Glock and Walther 35 days ago from his store. Who knows if true, but the poster looks like a long time poster on the site...

Excellent catch.

If the name indeed of a person involved in this shooting is "Cho" as said in that chat you linked, then that name is generally not Chinese but is Korean. However, what remains unclear is if such a person merely bought the weapon and passed it on, or whether the purchaser is the assailant.

Dear Lord Jesus, We pray for the Ryan Clark family and friends. Lord we pray that you would give them your comfort and strength in their loss. We pray for the members of the Circle K club that you would put your arms around them and give them your peace. Lord we pray that good would come from this evil.

We pray for all of those harmed in this tragic murder and the campus of Va Tech. We pray for all those kids that you would comfort them and touch them with your healing touch.

In Jesus’ Holy Name
Amen

From Wikipedia:

China is home to a large population of adherents of Islam. According to the CIA World Factbook, about 1%-2% of the total population in China are Muslims,[3] while the US Department of State's International Religious Freedom Report shows that Muslims constitute about 1.5% (or a population of 19,594,707) of the Chinese population.[4] The various censuses asserted that there may be up to 20 million Muslims in China.[5]

The BBC's Religion and Ethics webpage gives a range of 20 million to 100 million Muslims in China;[6] the figure of 100 million is based on a 1938 statistical yearbook placing the number of Muslims at 50 million, as well as census data from the 1940s, which showed roughly 48 million Muslims.[7] Demographers at the University of Michigan contend in contrast that the only way the Muslim population of China could be substantially higher than the officially counted 20.3 million in the 2000 census is if there were a very large hidden or uncounted number of Muslims in China; but a large undercount of Muslims has not been documented and remains speculative.[8][9]

20 million Muslims in China. Them's a lotta Muslims.

...You may be right. I think that some students have already made the connection. http://www.xanga.com/wanusmaximus/583420851/item.html...

This guy is denying he's the shooter:

http://wanusmaximus.livejournal.com/

Coming out. I am not the shooter. Through this experience, I have received numerous death threats, slanderous accusations, and my phone is out of charge from the barrage of calls. Local police have been notified of the situation.

My original intention was to wait until I got AdSense on my site and donating all the proceeds to Charity. However, this situation has now spiraled out of control. I am now confirming that I am not the shooter. I will be available for interview by a news agency to clear my name, talk about the experience, and give my opinion on how the situation could have turned out better if other students were allowed to be armed. I will only speak with individuals who are interested in donating to charities resulting from today's events. Please e-mail all correspondence to null@vt.edu

So eloquent. I am very moved by what you say. May your prayer be answered and these grieving people be protected from the hyenas, and respected in their grief.

He’s posted that he is NOT the shooter (and since the shooter is dead, I tend to believe him.)

Seems like he’s a republican, too.

What is your opinion of Dr. Steger? I know zero about him but from his presentation at the news conference, I found him to appear to have a calming influence in this situation.

The suicide would prevent interrogation. The terrorist know that we are good at extracting information, so he might have done that to protect his cell.

Then again, maybe he was just an individual loon with no connection to Islamic extremist.

No one — adult or otherwise — has a right to carry where guns are prohibited, like in schools and churches.

What happened today is about evil, not about guns.

Yes it is about evil and a gun in the right hands could have stopped evil sooner and saved many lives!

Whatever. There’s an extra “i,” in Jedidiah, the names are not the same, but have it your way.

It wasn’t Nathan who gave the babe the name Jedidiah, but the Lord himself.

Your attempt to link guns to my screenname is just plain weird, but at least you did your homework and learned of Josiah’s mom. She did a good job, didn’t she? (So did I.) ;-)
