The World Bank has had more weak leaders than any institution of its size and importance deserves.

With the notable exceptions of Bob McNamara, fresh from executing the Vietnam war, and Jim Wolfensohn who stepped down two years ago, the former presidents have been notable for their inadequacies.

Yet until l'affaire Wolfowitz, there has never been any question about the integrity of those leading the crusade against global poverty.

From the Wall Street Journal. They have an article detailing how the World Bank is lying about the accusations against Wolfowitz. Excerpt:

"Needless to say, none of this context has appeared in the media smears suggesting that Mr. Wolfowitz pulled a fast one to pad the pay of Ms. Riza. Yet the record clearly shows he acted only after he had tried to recuse himself but then wasn't allowed to do so by the ethics committee. The whole enterprise lacks integrity. "Crusading" against global poverty unintentionally creates more global poverty. Look how big the World Bank has gotten - it's become a self-sustaining enterprise.

The FT debunked that as baloney, you can see how selective the wsj really is here. Try to understand that Wolf is their man, he leaks to them regularly and now they're trying to protect their source. He is a leftist by the way, there is no need to defend him. He demanded that the US not build a border wall and meddled in our trade policies, something he does in no other nation under cover of his office. Keeping him at the bank with the whole staff despising him for good reason will guarantee that he will continue to make more antiamerican statements, meddling in our internal affairs completely against bank rules. He has no regard for rule of law when it comes to himself or his beloved girlfriends and creepy creepy nasty staff. How'd you like that Robin Cleveland creature coming to your workplace and screaming and acting like the consultant who wants you fired? You wouldn't, that's for sure. Back up that assertion with some facts. FYI: The WH has been dragging its feet in constructing the fence, has proposed a comprehensive immigration reform package that includes a guest worker program, and has been missing in action when it comes to enforcing our existing immigration laws. Is the WH "Leftist" as well?

You are lumping the man in with the actions of the World Bank, which was doing those things long before Wolfowitz ever got there. Do you think things will change if Wolfowitz resigns? Who will take his place? Wolfowitz is being targetted, just like Rumsfeld, by the Left and the MSM because of Iraq not because of some manufactured scandal at the World Bank. It is all about Bush who appointed him.
