Ask not for whom the cross burns, it burns for Don Imus.
Poor I-man, kicked down the stairs like a Bob Gamere, abandoned by the Beautiful People he served so faithfully these past few decades. We wont be MSNBCing the senile old crackhead anymore. No more summer party invitations from his media enablers in the Hamptons. Henceforth, he is a nobody on Nantucket.
Wherever will we get our fix of Doris Kearns Goodwin now? And whats the over-under on how many days until trophy-wife Deirdre walks out forever?
Don Imus - $10-million dollar salary, 10-cent brain. From the penthouse to the outhouse.
Just a few days ago, he was the Grand Dragon of WTKKK. Now Bob Grant is feeling sorry for him.
But the most interesting thing about Imus sudden demise is how few of the assorted coatholders, front-runners, bumkissers and drive-by pundits who called in every morning could be bothered to stand up for the I-man in his moment of need.
These liberals may be good company at a cocktail party in Vail, but you wouldnt want to share a foxhole with them. When the I-mans phone didnt ring, he knew it was Joe Lieberman. Or maybe Frank Rich.
Until his idiotic flameout, Don Imus was the nearest thing the liberals ever had to a success story in talk radio. He worshipped John Kerry. He fawned over Maureen Dowd. He cursed the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. After Saddam was executed, Imus joked with a local plagiarist about how Dick Cheney would handle himself on the gallows.
Who knew Imus would walk the Green Mile before Karl Rove?
The I-man thought he was one of the Beautiful People, but in the end it turned out like one of those Bob Dylan songs he used to play going into the breaks. Everybody said theyd stand behind him when the game got rough. But the joke was on him, there was nobody even there to bluff.
And now I do believe hes had enough.
All his new so-called friends ran away and hid on him. Think about that unctuous NBC rumpswab David Gregory. Wednesday night, he went on MSNBC looking like his dog just got run over. But by yesterday morning, Gregory was back on top of his game. He apologized to Jesse Jackson for ever having gone on the Imus show.
But Gregory just did what was expected of him. When the going gets tough, the tough - hey, come back here!
The Beautiful People spent all week stampeding to the microphone to announce, as one female from Time magazine said yesterday, that they wont be appearing on the Imus Show anymore.
No kidding, honey. Nobody will ever be appearing on the Imus show again, not even Imus.
How many regular-people talk-show listeners did Imus have at the end? Not many, would be my guess. Didnt notice any truck-drivers blowing their horns in support, did you?
It couldnt have happened to a nicer guy.
On his final show yesterday, Imus was moaning how the hypocritical newspapers had turned on him. Talk about clueless - he was counting on editorial writers to save him.
Too bad Imus outgrew all the people who used to listen to him on WNBC. Basically, he forgot who brung him to the dance.
Barney Frank - another target of Bernie McGuirks barbs - used to say that, as a politician, your base isnt the people who will stand behind you when youre right, but the people who will stand behind you when youre wrong.
In the end, Imus had no one who would stand behind him, period. Thats why he wont be down for breakfast.
And what can you say except, Theres no fool like an old fool.
Just saw on the news that NJ governor is in critical condition as he was hurrying to meet with Imus and the women's basketball team.
It is sickening how Hillary, Obama, Corizen and others are inserting themselves into this situation. Hillary is acting far more outraged than she did when SNL mentioned how ugly Chelsea was or something like it.
A Salon on-line hit piece article notes that Rush used the "ho" word on a previous show.
This will get the ball rolling. Those two ho-boys, Jackson and Sharpton, must be reveling in their glory right now.
Imus' big mistake was apologizing. Hope Rush doesn't do the same. The best defense is a massive but precise counter attack.....like right to the jugular of the fascists who think they're running this country right now.

I smiled all the way through this article.
Don Imus
He isn't hurting for money. He tried to save his job because he liked the power he had and he liked being a part of the clique of the media/political elite. That's Imus' punishment for his failed joke-- the awareness that he's a nobody now who can't do anything to boost book and music sales and that he has no friends among the people he had on his show. I'm guessing Imus goes into a depression. Hell, I might. That's really a pitiful situation to find yourself in because of one stupid comment.
This isn’t some O&A “insider’s scoop”. Keith, himself, came out the very night Imus was canned from MSNBC to say that he could now go public about the fact that he went to the bigwigs to support pulling the plug on Imus’ show.
Good to know it is true.
Thanks! Good article!

A word of advise,,,,,If you want good and loyal friends make sure they are not RATS!
It has been my experience that you have to keep an eye out for those who “stand behind” you.
Remember, — That is where you keep your wallet.
I have always thought of this as the ultimate, self-centered, liberal trait. These days, however, I have begun to think of it as just a lack of character, since we seem to see it in so many on our own team these days.
“Think about that unctuous NBC rumpswab David Gregory.”
LOL!
LOL!
LOL!
"This campaign is all about censorship," Kincaid said Friday, addressing a discussion on the Fairness Doctrine sponsored by the conservative Free Congress Foundation. "The left has tasted blood after the Imus affair."
"Democrats in Congress want to bring back the Fairness Doctrine, a federal regulation that required broadcasters to present both sides of a controversial issue. The FCC enforced the rule from 1949 to 1987, when it was dropped during the Reagan administration."
Gee, I'm guessing the FCC and the court system through the threats of using both.
It seems like conservatives almost have a disfunction in sympathizing with people who hate them. Why else would Hastert and the Republican leadership whine about the FBI searching Jefferson’s congressional office? The Imus Affair is a pure lib on lib event.
Have you seen his Trophy Wife?? What did he win, dogcatcher of the year??
Pray for W and Our Troops
i kind of hope IMan rises from the ashes and reinvents himself, could be kind of intersting. Plus watching the revenge grudge match would be priceless.
Here’s hoping IMan comes out swinging, if purely for the show.
ps: add me to ping list pls
