[BREAKING] N.J. Gov. Corzine Hurt In Car Accident
WBZTV.COM ^ | 12 APRIL 2007 | AP

(CBS) GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, N.J. New Jersey Gov. Jon S. Corzine was injured Thursday night in a car accident on the Garden State Parkway, but a spokesman says the injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Democratic U.S. Sen. Jon Corzine was elected governor of New Jersey in November 2006, soundly beating Republican businessman Doug Forrester in a race that set records for campaign spending but alienated voters with its mean-spirited politicking. With 97 percent of precincts reporting, Corzine had 53 percent to Forrester's 44 percent.

Oops! I was wrong about her being there tonight. I had heard on TV that she was meeting with the team, but apparently that wasn’t tonight. I believe she will be there on Monday.

He was reportedly in the front seat.

According to whom? I've seen nothing one way or the other. The passenger side of the car supposedly took the brunt of the impact. It supposedly got hit by the white truck and slammed into the guardrail.

Hillary travels to Rutgers Posted: Thursday, April 12, 2007
5:27 PM by Mark Murray

From NBC’s Mark Murray

Hillary Clinton will be giving a speech at Rutgers on Monday — obviously tied to the Imus controversy. Per a campaign spokesman, “The Eagleton Center for American Women and Politics had a standing invitation for her and we felt that it would be an appropriate time to discuss the role of women in society given all that is happening.”

Why on earth do they report partial results six months later? Very odd.

According to NBC10:
The governor, who was riding in the front passenger seat, was injured, as was his driver, state Trooper Robert Rasinski. A governor's aide, who was also riding in the vehicle, was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
They also identify the vehicle as a Tahoe. :-)

In the rush to break the story, they probably went with what they had when they couldn't quickly find the final results.

UPDATE @ 11:45: Corzine Out of Surgery

The governor suffered a broken left leg and several broken ribs.

Corzine also had a broken sternum, a broken collarbone, a slight fracture of the lower vertebrae and six broken ribs on each side, said Dr. Steven Ross, trauma director at Cooper.

Corzine also had laceration on his head, but did not sustain any brain or spinal cord damage in the accident. Ross said Corzine would be in the intensive care unit in critical but stable condition following surgery. The surgery was expected to be completed early Friday morning, Ross said.

I assume the bad news is that he is expected to live.

If it was fatal, one has to wonder what corrupt person would take over NJ. Most of NJ's political establishment should be sent to prison, IMO. It's like reading about some corrupt South American regime.

If NBC10 is correct, Corzine broke the law.

By the way, while WABC here says the passenger side smashed into the guardrail, WNBC says the drivers' side hit the guardrail. Who knows?

Hilary was there too? This looks like a political ralley to mark the beginning of the Left’s attack on Talk Radio and the “Right Wing Conspiracy.”

I have this premonition that there is an effort to emasculate Talk Radio just before the Left mounts their assault on the truth just before the elections. We can thank John McCain’s Campaign Reform Laws for setting the stage for a clamp down on political discourse which will allow only the Main Stream Media with a monopoly on the information. If we don’t stop these fascists, they will soon target us for what we say on the Web.

If it was fatal, one has to wonder what corrupt person would take over NJ.

Senate President Codey would likely have become Governor until a new Governor was elected. I say likely because, unlike during the McGreevey affair, due to a recent constitutional amendment, Codey would have had to vacated his Senate post in order to take over. It's not clear he'd be willing to step down. New Jersey gets to elect a corrupt person to the post of Lieutenant Governor starting in 2009.

Compared to your average Jersey politician, Codey's not that corrupt. Of course, that's not saying much.

Sorry. I goofed! With all the news over the past few days, I probably read it wrong. Here’s my last post regarding Hillary:

Why were all those people there??

I just heard that Corzine was on his way to the meeting and came here to confirm I heard it correctly. I have wondered since yesterday if a specific political agenda was behind this uproar.

Carville once said something like if you wave a hundred dollar bill around a trailer park there's no telling what you'll come up with. Now whose camp would think to wave a high profile race incident to attract Jackson and Sharpton as distractions for a different agenda?

Corzine was to meet with the team and Don Imus tonight before the car accident derailed his plans. I am not sure if someone will hold the meeting in the Governor’s place.

The Hildebeast will speak at Rutgers Monday, April 16. I am sure she will use it to have a photo op with the team. Here is the post describing the occasion in more detail:

“He has multiple broken ribs, a cracked sternum and collar bone, broken vertebrae and a head laceration “

Yes I just heard the latest 1 AM news on WABC The injuries are extensive. I wonder how long he will be in hospital, rehab etc?

will he be going back to corrupting err I mean governing NJ any time soon?

And will he admit that he was extremely stupid to be in a vehicle without a seatbelt?

It went up and over the guardrail. The rear of the vehicle is up on the guardrail in the pics. Without a seatbelt, if they were going fast all that whipping around, even if it didn't roll, would have thrown him around the car quite a bit.

The part about his legs out the window is interesting because we have a full-sized suburban and I used to be able to prop my feet up on the dash in our van, there is no way I can do the same thing in our Suburban. Also, what about airbags? We have airbags on driver and passenger side. Our's is a 2004 and the 2005 and newer Suburbans also have side impact airbags.
