U.S. radio host Neal Boortz last year said, Cynthia McKinney, "looks like a ghetto slut."
Rush Limbaugh, in January called Barack Obama, whose father was from Kenya and his white mother is from Kansas, a "halfrican American."
And CNN host Glenn Beck, during an interview with Muslim congressman Keith Ellison, said, "Sir, prove to me that you are not working with our enemies."
The comments by Boortz, Limbaugh and Beck were confirmed by the watchdog group Media Matters, which said the same public outcry that forced Imus off MSNBC and forced CBS Corp. to suspend his radio show for two weeks ought to be applied to others.
"It's the media's responsibility to hold these people accountable," said Karl Frisch, a spokesman for Media Matters.
All three men remain in their jobs, and Boortz was among a group of conservative radio hosts who met U.S. President George W. Bush in the White House last September.
Paul Levinson, chairman of the Department of Communications and Media Studies at New York's Fordham University, said Limbaugh and Ann Coulter were "already identified as crackpots" while Imus was more influential with the mainstream.
"Once someone is identified as beyond the pale, which is how Coulter and Limbaugh are identified, nobody ever takes anything they say all that seriously," Levinson said.

Fine. It would be better to point this out than to claim he is not African American or that his middle name is Hussein.
Just as I said. The Imus thing was to prepare our mush-minds for the big onslaught. They had their sights on Rush, Savage, and the others from the start. They were just waiting for their opportunity.
Just watch. Rush or Savage will say something slightly wrong, and the hyenas will rush in to tear them apart.
What’s that got to do with Barack Obama? Last I read, he was a Christian.
Do you hold the same views about Christians who shoot abortionists?
Looks like you got your wish.
#40 - applause, applause!
So far all thats gone is Err Amurika and Don Imus. ;-)
I don’t know where to start- first, Imus never said “Jigaboos”- that was the other guy, and only in referring to a Spike Lee “joint”.
Second, I think TN is as dark, or white, of a team as is Rutgers.
I saw an article that had a quote from Imus about “jigaboos and wannabees”. Maybe the other guy said it first, or maybe the article got it wrong.
Probably NOT!!
The lyrics of the songs played on those stations make these examples so much pablum!!
oNLY 3 white girls on UT.
You do not read enough. Go pull the dumbocrap level.
He has NO CREDIBILITY, NONE!
The other guy said it...Imus did not.
I have found an article that clearly says the other guy said the remark, as you have noted.
I also have a news article on file that attributed the quote to Imus — and I’m now convinced that article was wrong. Not surprising, papers get things wrong all the time.
I’m glad that when I quoted Imus for my weekly column, I did not use that quote. The quotes I used were from a partial transcript that matches the transcripts I found looking tonight.
I double-checked to be certain, because if my quotes were wrong in my article I would issue an apology and a correction in next week’s column.
So I thank you for the head’s up, it might have saved me if I had used that quote.
Gettin’ close to tree waterin’ time?
Blah, blah, blah.
I happen to agree with a previous poster that Barack hasn’t put forth an agenda. But linking him to Muslims, as you did, is just stupid. He isn’t a Muslim. He has condemned Hezbollah.
Oh, yeah! I forgot. I don’t read.
This is just one more step toward liberals pushing the fairness doctrine. I bet it will be be proposed within the next week.
I love to read stupid statements by you. Trust who you wish, but I will never trust a liberal.
