71.9% of Hispanics Also Opposed to Taxpayer-Funded Day Laborer Sites

WASHINGTON, April 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today released the results of a nationwide poll conducted in partnership with Zogby International concerning the American people's attitudes towards illegal immigration.

Among the highlights of the poll conducted March 22 - 26, 2007:

-- Overall, 66% of likely voters believe that more emphasis should be placed on law enforcement when addressing the issue of illegal immigration, including 51.6% of Hispanics and 56.8% of self-described political "liberals." Only 5% said the emphasis on law enforcement should be diminished, including 3% of Hispanics.

-- 79% believe public officials should not use taxpayer funds to operate day laborer sites that help illegal aliens, including 71.9% of Hispanics and 70% of self-described political "liberals."

-- 72% of likely voters believe local law enforcement officers should help enforce federal immigration laws, including 40% of Hispanics and 55% of self-described political "liberals."

"The American people speak with one voice on the topic of illegal immigration. Virtually every voter demographic -- even those supposedly most sympathetic to illegal aliens -- want our illegal immigration laws to be strictly enforced," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

"Overwhelmingly, the American people want local officials to help address illegal immigration through law enforcement, not taxpayer subsidies and 'sanctuary' policies." This telephone survey, conducted by Zogby International, included a target sample of 1,039 interviews. The margin of error is +/- 3.1 percentage points.

Judicial Watch has taken a leading role in pushing for the strong enforcement of our nation's immigration laws. For example, Judicial Watch has cutting-edge litigation against taxpayer-funded day laborer sites that illegally assist illegal aliens with finding employment. Judicial Watch is also litigating against the Los Angeles Police Department (and ACLU lawyers) to end "sanctuary policies" that prohibit police officers from enforcing federal immigration laws and cooperating with federal immigration authorities.

More results of the Judicial Watch -- Zogby poll, along with information about Judicial Watch's anti-illegal immigration programs, are available a http://www.judicialwatch.org.

The Dems, especially Hillary, may finally realize that they can come out swinging on illegal immigration and still not alienate the Hispanic vote.

Pro-invasion RINOs, on the other hand, are still beholden to the US Chamber of Commerce and other cheap-labor business interests.

Our only hope as Conservatives is someone like Tom Tancredo or Duncan Hunter who can do what is right for America and tell the cheap labor profiteers to get stuffed.

but the liberal left controls the u.s. media and they’re going to spin it as “republican”.

meanwhile, the republicans got burned on their association with the illegal issue last november, so they will not be leading the charge on illiegal immigration.

All of the Latinos in my family want to see firm application of immigration laws to all newcomers. They went through the proper path of obeying this nations laws to become American citizens, and it should be good enough for everyone else to do so as well.

It's a slap in the face to all of those who worked so hard to become legal, naturalized American citizens when the government decides that immigration law only applies to certain people.

And how will Hunter or Tacredo pass this law without the house or senate?

Absolutely. Various pro-invasion pols, chiefly ‘rats but including some RINOs, were racist fools for assuming that Hispanic citizens would automatically side with the illegals.

I probably know several hundred Latino citizens here in Lubbock. Except for a handful of lawyers, media types, and Castro enamored academics, they are almost 100% anti-illegal.

To what law are you referring?

The necessary laws to stop the invasion are already on the books, if someone will just try to enforce them.

Glad your family members did it the right way and realize what’s happening to this country.

You may want to add RINO to your tagline.

Pro-invasion RINOs, such as rudy, on the other hand, are still beholden to the US Chamber of Commerce and other cheap-labor business interests.

Now that is the whole truth!

Somebody with know-how and energy needs to start a THROW THE BASTARDS OUT movement on the net and in every other way possible for the 08 election.

It is time for the people to take back this country from the incumbents, the invaders and the corporate exploiters.

It could be done. Remember Swift Boat?

meanwhile, the republicans got burned on their association with the illegal issue last november, so they will not be leading the charge on illiegal immigration.

Why do people keep saying that. It is not true. All the immigration control statues by many states passed. The coalition with Tom Tancredo got reelected 2 to one over the open border repubs.

perception is reality.

the tv perception, carefully honed by the democraps, is that the republican party is anti-immigrant.

National Movement For Term Limits.

If a lawmaker doesn’t vote for it, throw him out of office during the next election cycle.

This should be the Republicans 2008 campaign promise. Admit that everything is fouled up, use the Pelosi trip as an example and force it onto the ballot.

Make the RATS say it is unconstitutional and that they are against it.
