On Jan. 13 of this year, I accepted the request of the Durham district attorney to take over three Durham cases. At the time, I promised a fresh and thorough review of the facts and a decision on the best way to proceed.

AG said she wouldn’t be. He said that she actually believed her multiple changing stories...basically, he implied that she’s got Pretty Serious Issues. There was mention of “records under seal”...wouldn’t surprise me if they’ve got some psychiatric evaluations there that paint Crystal Gail Mangum as a pretty screwed-up young woman.

I’m sure you can see it later on youtube or somewhere...it’s worth it...used words like “innocent” (not JUST not-guilty) and “rogue prosecutor”...he was extremely forceful..
There would have been a plea bargain and the poor smucks would have been stuck doing time and have this garbage to deal with the rest of their lives. Nifong is pure evil whale sh$t, I hope they string him up by his two inch little pencil eraser.
Bears repeating. This statement from the state AG just gave the defense lawyers a huge boost for the civil suits sure to follow. I would love to serve on one of those juries.
Nifong put this sham forward partly (or mostly) to get reelected. I wonder if today’s announcement gave any pause to those who voted for him.
I am so relieved that he left no doubt in anyone’s mind.

What’s amazing is that AG Roy Cooper is a Democrat.
I’m glad that these young men were finally exonerated. Now, let’s wait for all the apologies to these men and their families.
I have a feeling that this story’s shelf life will be measured in minutes by the dbm and libs. Either that, or they’ll paint Crystal Gail Mangum as a poor, confused innocent victim and the Duke players as rich, influential power players who bullied the D.A., Mangum and the system to beat the rap.
I didn’t hear even 10 seconds of it. Darn.
Let the lawsuits against Durham and Duke begin :-)
The only problem is it will probably be the taxpayers who foot the bill rather than the corrupt DA Nifong.
