I cannot tell you how many people have asked me about my thoughts on Don Imus. As a student of broadcasting, I know Don Imus was one of the original shock jocks. I listened to him growing up in New York City in the late 60s and early 70s.
He is a radio icon.
That said, it is time for him to go.
I, for one, am really tired of the diatribes, the humor at others expense, the cruelty that passes for funny. Don Imus isnt the only one doing this, but today hes the one in the hot seat.
What he said was vile and disgusting. It denigrated an entire team and by extension, a community and its pride in a group that had excelled.

Hey Roker, when you demand that it’s time for Rosie to also go, then maybe more people will respect your opinion.
Hey Al. Have a Ho-Ho.
This isn’t about rich black celebs or anybody else. This is about insulting a bunch of college students. I care about what the students and coach had to say.
Can anyone answer the following without including race baiting Al or Jesse, and not Roker.
What did these young college girls do to deserve an attack by a man old enough to be their grandfather?
Because to me the bigger issue is that he attacked a bunch of college kids. That is like me getting on a radio station and attacking a bunch of 10 year old baseball players. I wonder who is going to post the article on the comments made by the coach and the team and how many responses it will get.

LOL!
Thanks Bommer!
Are you thinking I’m defending Imus and by extension that makes me a “stupid conservative”?! Well, I’m offended. Let’s see....should I call a press conference? Call some victim’s rights group?
Or, should we just meet in the parking lot after work? I’ll give you a chance to explain your remarks. If I like what you say, cool. If you just dig the hole deeper, I’ll pop you one and it’ll be over. I’ll buy ya a beer and we’ll laugh about it. (Yes, that does sound rather violent, but it would be just YOU and ME, settling our differences...you as the offender, me as the offendee. Not the whole darn country! and besides, I just have a little hand, and my slaps are relatively harmless!)
Insulting the sensibilities is what IMUS (spelled backwards is SU MI) has done his whole career. This time he's gone over the edge, maybe for the last time. I don't watch or listen to him, never have, as I cannot stand him or Stern or any of his compadres. What he gets has been a long time coming...........
Have they told Imush how much extortion money it will cost him to avoid their boycot?
I am sure that they have already cashed the check.
Not to hijack this important (cough) topic, but I do think it's important to keep the lights on at Free Republic. In my book, there is no better news source anywhere on the planet. Even carries the gossip. ;)
Too funny. A liberal being hung for PC.
Imus should have just refused to apologize. That would have left them with no ammo. Once you start apologizing, there seems to be no end.
Too funny that he goes on the biggest racist there is, Al Sharpton, to grovel and Al still wants him fired.
I never have watched him more than a couple of minutes and then only to try figure out what that hat was all about, but, the whole thing has boiled down to “crawl, whitey, crawl.” And he is. And it is disgusting.
If he does that, it should be the end of him. Caving & squirming like a little weasel. I would never have thought I’d see the day.
See I have never listened to Imus. I never knew he made insults about others until I started seeing it on here and looking up the information. He seems like an senile old fool.
I think the media goes overboard in issues involving race and spend to much time talking about it. But at the same I don’t care if these college students were white, black, purple, or blue. It takes a real lack of class to attack a bunch of college kids who didn’t deserve it. I feel sorry for those girls losing a championship game and having to deal with this at the same time. Most of these kids are straight out of their parents house and still have child like mentalities.
The Rutgers basketball team and their coach have handled the situation with class.
I’m not buyin’ this. The timing was perfect for a lefty to make an outrageous statement and distract the nation from Nancy’s foibles in Damascus. I’m not saying that everyone is in on it but it is succeeding in getting her off the headlines and I think at this point, Imus and Sharpton are winging it and seeing where it goes. TR is devoting countless hours to this nonsense.(It also helps DiFI slip away, not that anyone was going to be serious about looking into her anyway.
How many of their songs call their women whores, b!tches, and everything else and there seems to be no issue.
Imus should just make it his cause for the future to out all these songs and people and get the libs to bleed them all.
Why are they only allowed to go after an old white senior citizen for a two second slip of the tongue when there are black folks making careers saying that stuff hundreds of hours a year for millions of dollars?
How about some real progress everywhere instead of picking on the drug ridden old alcoholic senior who should be a poster boy for depends!!
Let me get this straight. Imus needs to ‘go’ but Rosie O’Fatso can stay? Yeah. Makes a lotta sense...
Which one? I make so many, I lose count.........
