Dems' Nightmare. Rudy & 9/11 Will Beat All
New York Post ^ | April 8, 2007 | DAN GERSTEIN

Of course, Giuliani's had a rough week or two; even if he's still the front-runner, he's hardly a sure thing for the nomination. He raised an impressive $10 million in March alone, but keep in mind that his high standing in the polls has a lot to do with the relative weakness of the current field, which could change.

That said, I suspect the "Rudy can't win" mantra is being driven as much by Democratic fear and loathing - of both conservatives and Giuliani himself - as by Republican politics and performance.

As Deborah Hart Stroberand Gerald Strober's "Flawed or Flawless" amply documents through dozens of interviews with friends and foes alike, liberals widely despise Giuliani. Not just because they see him as a racially insensitive, rights-suppressing bully, but because he succeeded in this big blue city largely because of his hard-charging style, not despite it.

To these liberals, Giuliani winning the GOP nomination is doubly scary: He threatens their worldview - and, worse, as a socially tolerant 9/11 hero, he's probably the biggest threat to beat the Democratic nominee. So when they say he can't win, part of what they're really saying is they don't want him to win.

This is a book review -- looks like an insightful book.

From what I’ve seen on the Rudy threads, the prospect of a Guliani presidency scares several conservatives as well, not just liberals. It certainly has brought out rudeness, if nothing else.

“But liberals’ big error here is to dramatically discount the long-term political impact of 9/11. They just don’t see how the terrorist attacks of that day, and the ongoing threat of jihadism, have transformed millions of Americans (especially on the right) into security-first voters. This is the pre-eminent, transcendent issue for this generation of conservatives, and Rudy’s credentials are saint-like. “

I feel like a broken record, but how, pray tell, has the Rutard distinguished himself on the issue of international relations? The man the Oneida call Greasy Man with Limp Noodle has proven to have nothing more than a Cliffs Notes view of the world.

Hey, Mayor G, have you ever read Fareed Zakaria? No, he is NOT the driver for your little tart Judi.

Fitting that this is produced in the Murdoch Media. When they're not talking about the latest missing pretty white chick, they are shilling for Rudy.

Exactly the same reason "true conservatives" despise him.

Make no mistake, Rudy has the ability to split both parties at their purist points - forging a new consensus.

The far left and right will have a common enemy.

Guliani won't make it past the first half of the primaries.

And this is a very, very good thing.

No more RINOs.

Liberals ELECTED Giuliani! With a Democratic voting margin of 5-1, he couldn’t have won without the support of the effete metrosexual Democrats of his fair city.

“prospect of a Guliani presidency scares several conservatives as well”

But many other conservatives realize that they have nothing to fear, in fact he is the best candidate we can have in 2008 — after all, RG is strong on the war on terror, a fiscal conservative, already said he will appoint judges like Scalia and Alito, he doesn’t put up with any nonsense, AND he can beat the Dems.

Considering that you appear to support Fred Thompson, you are hardly in a position to throw stones about foreign policy experience.

Rudy has executive experience, turning around an ungovernable large city. Who among the current front runner candidates can claim that?

Rudy is pro-amnesty, pro-abortion, and anti-gun. Why is that we conservatives are suppose to vote for him??

“Genuine conservative” and “far right” are very different from each other. Genuine conservative means a great leader like Ronald Reagan. Far right means a kook like Pat Buchanan.

Aussie Dasher: “bin Laden wants to kill Americans. Rudy wants to kill Americans. Somebody care to tell me the difference???”

Rudy wants to DEFEND Americans FROM terrorists.

You are sinking really low — and that only reflects upon you and the Rudy haters, not upon him. Your desperation is showing, you have to make up outrageous lies about him, to bash him.

The primaries are gonna be awesome. It will be interesting to see what direction the GOP will go. And how each candidate will handle the issues.

There’ll be no need to make up lies about Rudy.

He’s who he is and the record is clear.

Lots of us love this guy...this wonderful America’s Mayor.

He’s just not a President.

His record is clear about that too.

Rudy wants to DEFEND Americans FROM terrorists.

Unless of course those Americans have the rotten luck to be unborn. Then according to Rudy they're fair game for the abattoirs. Not only that, but he wants to force, and I do mean force, everyone else to pay for it.

Rudy wants to DEFEND Americans FROM terrorists.

But he's dead set against the idea of Americans actually being able to own a firearm to defend themselves.

Oh yea, that's some defending Rudys got going on there.

He's a fraud.

Watching him lose in the primaries will be a real joy.
