Since you're being fair you might also mention the republicans that are disgusted with Bush not allowing the military to take the gloves off and wipe out the militias. Muqtada should have been gone 2 years ago.
I get the feeling that the American public is confused more than anything.
lets remind ourselves that you win or lose in politics by a mix of three ways:
1. coercing the mindless masses to vote for your candidate;
2. demoralizing the competitions base so they stay home;
3. energizing your base so they crawl over broken glass to vote
november 2006 illustrates all three strategies in favor of the left
1. the muddled middle was coerced by curiously undefended media hysteria over corruption and the failing war in iraq
2. our base, ignored and abused by our own suicidal white house which offered to do the lefts bidding for free, stayed home
3. the liberal base, after years of curiously undefended attacks on the white house by the media and pundits, was rabid and pumped to oust bush and company
despite raging intellectual debate by the elite of each party, true conversions are rare and inconsequential in elections
pity anyone (and conservatives are the worst offenders) who actually expects to persuade a voter with logic and reason
we need a candidate that will simply get out the conservative base
it is up to freepers et. al. to look after the other two factors to turn the election:
1. coerce the muddled middle by illustrating that the left is laughable, corrupt and traitorous;
2. demoralize the left base by illustrating that their candidate is a sell-out
If Iraqis vote for us to withdraw then we leave - and the consequences aren’t directly our fault.
If Iraqis vote for us to stay then we stay - and the Democrats can’t say that we are their against their will.
We also get to find out if Mookie is supported by the majority or not. If the majority do support Mookie, I don’t think we should be there - the people there aren’t worth another injured much less dead soldier.
Speaking as an ex-Dem who left the party more than ten years ago chiefly due to the realization that the party was not patriotic anymore, the current list of defeatist Dem pol scoundrels is by far the worst ever. Lieberman and Miller (the latter just retiring) are the only two patriotic Dems left. What does that say for the Donkey Party? Their attempt to define themselves as patriotic and interested in national security is a sick joke. The Republicans aren’t perfect by any means, but as far as national defense, the Dems aren’t even in the on-deck circle, much less at bat. In fact they’ve conceded the game to the enemy as far as I’m concerned.
I echo your sentiments. Too many conservatives expect the perfect candidate to vote for, when in actuality we're usually voting for the least objectionable candidate. Those are the facts, and we have to live with it. Letting in leftist morons by not voting because the Republican wasn't simon-pure is the same as voting for the leftist moron. Or at least half a vote. Expecting every Republican to be the next Reagan is unrealistic. Keeping leftist nutjobs out is as important as voting in ideal conservative candidates. If a person doesn't like the Republican running, then work to get a better one. But don't let leftist idealogues in because the Republican isn't another Ronald Reagan.
Confused? - maybe. Dissatisfied? - definitely.
Congress doesn’t have that much credibility on anything and hasn’t for a long time.
For good reason.

Disapproval rating increasing each month. Imagine what this will be by the 2008 election.
Give the Democrats enough rope and they'll hang themselves.

Your whole post is full of excellent points.
Though a few now and then can be persuaded by reason and facts IF they are at all fair minded and logical and full of integrity.
Thanks for your points. Worth posting again:

“Buyers remorse doesnt even begin to cover what so many of my family and friends feel about the Pelosi/Murtha Congress right now. I came very close to getting several apologies at the Easter dinner. They arent saying they are wrong, they are saying that they are just as dismayed that so many complete idiots got in during the I am offended so I am staying home Republican absentee vote election. Thanks so much, miffed conservatives!
I now truly know the meaning of cold comfort.”
I think the dims learned from the terrorists and rogue Islamic states. Blame it on one group or individual and put more money into media propogation of a big lie then in solving the problem. In this case, you had MoveOn.Org, pumping in hudreds of millions of dollars into the media engine and the blame all falls on Bush. The public bought in here in home and so did our enemies. The dims divided the country and have put all of America in grave peril. Now we have our hands tied, many more of our troops will die as banther fodder, America will likely sustain a nuclear terrorist event and our supply interuppted leading to a global depression. Hey, but what the hell? Pelosi and Soros are having a ball!!!
Bingo.

Considering member of the Democratic Party are trying to kill the term GWOT, I would tend to agree with your reasoning.
