Hey Imus, freedom of speech ain’t for Whitey!

MSNBC is privately owned. They are free to suspend whoever they want.

Maybe you don't understand free speech.

while you might not be offended I can assure you others would be. If he has the right to say anything he wants he has to accept the consequences. Are we all so immune to bad behavior that nothing phases us? I repeat Imus was not silenced by the feds but by his employers.

So what are they going to run? Best of Imus?

They could grab some derelict out of Times Square, slap a cowboy hat on his head, tell him to mumble insults every 30 seconds and no one would know the damn difference.

Suspended by CBS (radio) or just by MSNBC (cable)? Obviously, if CBS takes him of radio, MSNBC won’t have anything to air.

This might actually have been a strategic decision. A suspension now quiets down the issue, and if it costs ratings for a couple of weeks, that barely counts. He’ll be back — a return that will be well-covered — just in time for May sweeps.

Follow the money.

Suspension doesn’t even start until April 16th.

Which means his first day back will be April 30. I'm sure it will get a good deal of coverage, Just in time for May sweeps. Instead of a mediocre showing under threats of boycott, they'll have a big media event and a surge in ratings just in time to log the ratings that will set ad rates for the rest of the year.

This is a coup for MSNBC, and probably for Imus' bottom line, too. Sharpton's playing checkers and they're playing chess.

Imus made a stupid remark, but it’s not a reason to fire him.

Sid probably had the funniest comment of them all, too . . .

"They [the Rutgers women] look like the Toronto Raptors."

The reason they fired him is what has me all fired up. Watch, snake in the grass Sharpton will be aiming for his morning slot if he can turn it into a permanent firing.

Another thing, Reverand Sharpton is supposed to be a Christian man, right? Imus asked for forgivness on AS's radio show this morning and AS told him noooopeeeeee no mercy, now resign. Not a very Christian way of handling this IYAM.

I missed the broadcast, but if Imus said what has been stated here, he deserves firing. I wonder what his sponsors think of him insulting their prospective customers? If I advertised on his show, I would be pulling my ads.

I have mixed feelings on this kind of thing.

On one hand, its hard not to gloat when a liberal kiss a*s like Imus gets some of his own medicine.

OTOH, this is just one more example of the left-wing stranglehold over thought in this country. Conservatives should be in favor of more speech not less. And its not about offending people, because IMUS and weirdo rival Stern insult Christians on a daily basis, without anyone saying a word.

What it really gets down to, is that some groups are more equal than others, and I think thats wrong and conservatives shouldn't’t be supporting it.

And please stop with the stupid, “well, IMUS is an employee blah, blah, blah”.

So what, Captain Obvious. No one is suggesting we pass a law forbidding MSNBC from firing IMUS. We’re expressing our disapproval.

I heard the comments and there’s no mis-construing them. They were bad and the suspension was deserved.

How dare Imus make comments that are found in many rap song lyrics!

Political Correctness prevails.

It always does, and I fear that nothing short of cataclysm will break its chokehold on this country.

Are we all so immune to bad behavior that nothing phases us?

No, it's not a matter of being immune to bad behavior, it's called not being intrigued & lured by false indignation.  Famous old parables like "sticks and stones may break my bones," become famous old parables for a reason.

When one man can involve so many in a story, with such  passion, and that story doesn't have anything to do with them personally... "HE OWNS THEM!"
