WILLIAMS ANNOUNCING ON NBC, TWO WEEKS SUSPENSION
He has plenty of money. This is a 2 week vacation.
Imus says specifically right after it’s said that it’s a reference to a Spike Lee film. He confuses it with Do the Right Thing though.
A lot of people saw the film still.
Imus, however, is a nightmare.
Something about orally copulating some guy. It was slander. Imus and CBS settled per Howie on todays show.
LOL.....you put that so well.
Can’t watch the guy I wouldn’t watch if you paid me......
I don’t really care if Imus gets suspended. What he said was rude and extremely inapprpriate, so he gets what he deserves. The only thing I do feel a little bit miffed about is the reality that Rosie can say things that are just as bad or worse and stay on The View.
What I don’t understand is why he went on Sharpton’s program. That was an incredibly idiotic move that did nothing but give Sharpton credibility. I have no sympathy for him when it comes to the way Sharpton treated him on the program. He’s been around long enough to know what kind of creep Sharpton is.
I saw both films and I think Spike Lee WAS one of the more creative filmakers who was not averse to taking risks. He seems to have wandered away from his roots lately.I didn’t even bother with trash like Girl 6 or that stupid lesbian film.
He needs to do more Crooklyns and Mo Betta Blues type films.Oh,and Jungle Fever was great too.
You HAVE to be kidding ! Why on God’s green Earth would anyone want Imus on their network? He’s become a doddering old anti-war, anti-Republican, anti-Bush fool. Bout time he got his arse kicked and sees what it’s like for other people who don’t say the ‘right’ things. Maybe he’ll change his tune.
No.
Mike Gallagher made an interesting comparison on FNC this afternoon.
Said that ESPN fired Rush after his comment about the media favoring Donovan McNabb because he was African American.
On this, there has been relative silence. A two week paid vacation! As long as someone brings money to the station, anything goes.
In 1970, Tom Wolfe wrote about the very subject in "Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers". Thirty seven years later and nothings changed... or perhaps it's worse.
IMO Don's remark was pretty funny; in fact it was hilarious! What ever happened to people's sense of humor? This is censorship of the highest order. Will Imus be sent to a retraining camp? Or will that be next year for us?
Can someone link me to the original comments?
Boy, now THAT would be a great idea!!!!
I wish someone would write up a list of things that did NOT get Imus suspended, and compare it with the current contretemps.
I was tempted to say, “Whatever will I do now? My life is over....” :)
