You hit the nail on the head. It would be one thing to apologize publicly, do some community service, serve drinks for the women's team he inslutted, whatever. But to validate Sharpton's claim as the voice of the black community by his appearance, he has hurt the cause of dignity for the black community more than any words he could have uttered.

I remember John DePetro on WRKO in Boston was fired last year for calling a third party candidate a fat lesbian. He apologized etc. and was still let go. Personally, I liked DePetro a lot. I think he is on some station in Rhode Island now.

I’ve sensed for a long time that Imus has a large loyal black audience. Sharpton may learn that his mouth has finally overloaded his a-hole.
