[Nick Broomfield's] new project, Haditha, [is] a dramatisation of the massacre in November 2005, when a company of US marines shot dead up to 24 Iraqi civilians, including women and children, after a Marine NCO had been killed by an improvised explosive device....[His previous film] was a generic fictionalised narrative, this will be a dramatised reconstruction. Shortly after the screening the team left for Jordan where he is filming now.
Surprisingly Broomfield was able to interview some of the Marines involved in the incident. "We spent five days in a motel in San Diego interviewing them for probably 10 hours a day, just to get a sense of their lives and who they really were. They were very wary to begin with, but once people start talking, they really talk. The main Marine character we focus on was this guy called Ramirez. The night he got back from Iraq he broke into a truck and basically had post-traumatic stress and ended up driving into a house. He was best friends with the guy who was killed by the bomb, and then had the job of writing numbers on the dead people's heads and photographing them. They were extremely tough and had seen a lot of action. They talked about chasing each other around with people's legs and kicking people's brains around."

Okay, is this movie about the massacre at Haditha or is it a Clinton politcal history
The research for Haditha has presented different challenges. With a court case pending in the US, much of the material might be legally sensitive - although extensive details of a US military inquiry are in the public domain, having appeared in a series of Washington Post articles.
This makes no sense whatsoever that any Marines involved would be permitted to talk to the media. I wonder if John Edwards will be available if the families decide to sue.
Red rover is right they all have a death wish!
“cockle-pickers in Morecambe Bay. The screening is in support of a proposed private member’s bill”.... “Okay, is this movie about the massacre at Haditha or is it a Clinton politcal history?”
LOL! That’s the other movie he is producing, not Haditha. Very funny.
LOL! This article was crazily written. Everybody knows the cockle-pickers aren’t in Morecambe Bay. They’re screening for the private member in Morehead City, for pete’s sake!
The problem they will take the rest of us with them,if it wasn't for that I would let these people live under the government they so richly deserve.
If you can pull yourself away from your cockle-picking.
It’ll be hard, but I’ll see what I can do!
You owe me a cup of coffee and a new keyboard. ;)
Interesting technique. Do you use a stick to pick your cockles?
From what I understand- plump, shiny cockles are picked by hand, graded according to size, and transported by tractor..
I’m quitting while I’m behind. See you tomorrow, ma! (And don’t let the cockles bite!)
I am heading off to bed. Have a good night, dear Red. I’ll be givin’ you a holla if I dream of John Deere!
Love ya!
