Thank you, OXENinFLA for putting together the below comments and links!
.
Since "Free Republic is an online gathering place for independent, grass-roots conservatism on the web. We're working to roll back decades of governmental largesse, to root out political fraud and corruption, and to champion causes which further conservatism in America.", I and others think it's a good idea to centralize what the goes on in the Senate (or House).
So if you see something happening on the Senate/House floor and you don't want to start a new thread to ask if anyone else just heard what you heard, you can leave a short note on who said what and about what and we will try and find it the next day in THE RECORD. Or if you see a thread that pertains to the Senate, House, or pretty much any GOV'T agency please link your thread here.
If you have any suggestions for this thread please feel free to let us know.
Here's a few helpful links.
C-SPAN what a great thing. Where you can watch or listen live to most Government happenings.
C-SPAN 1 carries the HOUSE.
C-SPAN 2 carries the SENATE.
C-SPAN 3 (most places web only) carries a variety of committee meetings live or other past programming.
OR FEDNET has online feed also.
A great thing about our Government is they make it really easy for the public to research what the Politicians are doing and saying (on the floor anyway).
THOMAS where you can see a RECORD of what Congress is doing each day. You can also search/read a verbatim text of what each Congressmen/women or Senator has said on the floor or submitted 'for the record.' [This is where the real juicy stuff can be found.]
Also found at Thomas are Monthly Calendars for the Senate ,
Senate Republicans and Senate Democrats
And Monthly Calendars for the House and Roll Call Votes can be found here.
THE WAR DEPARTMENT (aka The Dept. of Defense)
Dang...I missed Reid and Nancy’s victory speech.
I have had on your NEW Senator...talking about how wonderful they are for listening to the will of the American people...pfffffft
Oh...thanks for the play by play.
If I couldn’t see it live, reading your reaction was almost like being there..LOL :0)
Hey Idiot Dems .. whats the point on giving them more money for a war they won’t be fighting since you are bringing them home?????
I really dislike these morons
Do these numbnuts know ANYTHING about history and how all our factory's were turned into war factory's back then????
Why didn’t Dorgan introduce bills, push for funding, if he thinks this is so important? I don’t recall him doing that.
These guys wouldn’t DARE refer to WW11 would they??
Because if they did, they would have to admit that our military served 4 YEARS without coming home for a year’s rest, like Murtha says is necessary.
Allard criticizing the Reid and Pelosi for not listening to Petraeus, for playing politics with the troops in the field, for not wanting to hear the truth...etc.
BTW..I just noticed that C-span is carrying that DEM debate tonight...so, if anyone wants to watch it..but NOT have to dirty their TVs with MSNBC (lol)...they can do it there.
Thanks, sleuthie. I really do not like to turn on MSNBC if I can possibly avoid it.
I hate to say this...but all of these people doing it NOW ...and on c-span 2, AFTER the vote...doesn’t cut it.
I know, I know, I am always crying because they don’t do that...but no one cares now!!
The vote is OVER..and the DEMS won....THEY will be able, with the MSM’s help, to shape the next story about this as how they DID fund the troops, but it was Pres. Bush that vetoed the bill..therefore HE is the bad guy, not them.
If Hagel and Smith had voted with their PARTY..and McCain and Graham shown up...they would have had 50 votes, right??
They would have won, right??
IOW..this didn’t HAVE to be a DEM win in the Senate.
ROFLMAO!!!!
Who-hooooo..I needed that.
Thank you.
Though I wonder if Hellary will be using her southern or northeastern voice tonight?
:0)
Let me see....the debate is in South Carolina..SOUTH Carolina...and she will be fighting for votes with OBAMA...so, I wouldn’t be surprised to hear her slip a few “ya’lls” into her speech....hehehe
If Hagel and Smith would have been voting with us, Graham and McCain would hav shown up. And yes, we would have won.
GRRRRRRRR that just chaps my hide!!
This could have been a WIN for the GOP!! and OUR TROOPS!
Landrieu voted for it..surprise?
You know what is even worse...the Dem operatives will be able to say that the bill wouldn’t have passed except it was BI-partisan against Bush.
I just saw a picture of the Reid-Pelosi presser...and it makes me wanna PUKE...knowing that the GOP COULD have kept that press conference from even happening.
