RALEIGH, N.C. - Elizabeth Edwards says she is scared of the "rabid, rabid Republican" who owns property across the street from her Orange County home - and she doesn't want her kids going near the gun-toting neighbor.
Edwards, the wife of Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, particularly recalls the time neighbor Monty Johnson brought out a gun while chasing workers investigating a right of way off his property. The Edwards family has yet to meet Johnson in person.
"I wouldn't be nice to him anyway," Edwards said in an interview. "I don't want my kids anywhere near some guy who when he doesn't like somebody, the first thing he does is pull a gun out. It scares the business out of me."

What was it “Rosie” said about what kind of people get cancer?
And of course no one can say ONE DAMN WORD contrary to Mrs Edwards, or else they will be accused of trying to beat up a cancer victim.
The MSM/Left always manufactures these supposed “untouchables”.
“And you know what happens to liars? They get cancer.”
~Rosie O’Donnell, speaking to an employee, she knew was a cancer survivor
The guy is probably a homosexual activist. Edwards is more Consevative than Giuliani.....so I don’t know why Elizabeth has her liberal panties in a bunch.
Well no wonder the Edwards family has never met the neighbors. It is a 3 day hike from their house to the property line.
And don’t forget to add a check for her dear husband’s presidential campaign.
Monty Johnson, owner of the garage site and one of Edwards’ closest neighbors, is no Edwards fan. Johnson has left standing an abandoned house facing the entrance to the Edwards property.
Elizabeth Edwards said they purchased 102 acres — valued for tax purposes at $1.1 million — in 2003 after spotting it while searching the Internet.
*****
She (Elizabeth Edwards) said that there is nothing “grandiose” about the house
The main living section of the house is 10,778 square feet and has a tax value of $3.1 million, according to tax records. It has five bedrooms, 6 1/2 baths and a library. A second wing of the house is connected by a heated enclosed walkway, valued at $192,664, that is lined with family and political photographs.
The second wing, called “The Barn” by the family, has 6,336 square feet and includes a lounge and offices that are 70 percent complete. It has a current tax value of $567,403. It also has a basketball court, which is 60 percent complete and valued at $300,960; a racquetball court, 70 percent complete and valued at $41,000; and a pool, according to tax records.

Elizabeth Edwards said the gym fulfilled her husband’s dream of having his own basketball court to use when he wished.
The racquetball court, Elizabeth Edwards said, was a sort of “valentine” from her husband to help with her lifelong battles to control her weight.
She is shameful.
Well, that Valentine didn’t work.
So much for ‘uniting’ the country.
The ones that scream the loudest about being a ‘uniter’ are the ones who do their damndest to divide the country.
Thats easy , the “rabid Republican” will want your child taught about duty ,honor, country in school while the “rabid Democrat” will want teach your child about homosexual anal fisting & bestiality as perfectly ordinary lifestyle choices in grammar school. Any more easy to answer questions?
I live in a rural area like the one described that is beginning to develop. Farmland is switching to 2 to 4 acre plots with McMansions slapped on them. The farmers have an absolute right to break up their farms when they retire, I don’t argue that. But one of the consequences of rapid development is that it changes the nature of the local zoning & supervisory boards. Prodded by the new, wealthy residents they are suddenly gung-ho to tell you what you can and can’t do on your property. This can come as quite a shock to long-time residents who are used to a more laissez-faire local government.
I’d be willing to bet that something done by or at the behest of the Edwards’ has really got their neighbor ticked.
Oh, and I wouldn’t put it past Elizabeth’s ilk to make the whole d*mn story up for political effect.
While I’m not a Rudy guy, I have to say this guy is right on the money about Edwards.
Evidently, Mike Baker or Myrtle Beach Online, don't have the means to hire a proofreader.
As far as the story goes... LOL !
I'm glad this guy is giving them the finger. Too bad he's planning on moving away. I just hope he stays until after the election.
Maybe Speaker Pelosi can take a message of peace to Mr. Johnson on behalf of Mrs. Edwards.
She sounds retarded.
If she had said this in advance of the announcement of the recurrence of her cancer, it would have been received much differently.
I'm sorry for her health troubles, but she is exploiting it in a way that is shameful.
If I were her "rabid, rabid Republican" neighbor, I'd be exploring a lawsuit.
What a jerk.
Well, don’t worry, Elizabeth, you won’t have to be afraid of him for long.
:-P.
