***For those of you who didn’t know, Johnny Hart was a Christian.***
I wonder if the LA Times will publish an obituary without dancing on his grave. If I remember, they dropped Hart’s cartoons because of their Christian Easter messages.
To: Shady
I was JUST thinking about him 5 hours ago, considering a business name with a BC acronym.
He lived a long life, and was my favorite cartoonist. At one time I owned ALL his BC books, something like 19. Now my niece has them and won’t let me near them...

An AP article says he died of a stroke
To: RichInOC
I thought the ZOT! also came from the anteater in B.C. and maybe that is the case. But Wikipedia’s entry on “B.C.”
says:
“Altporn website Suicide Girls actually refer to the termination of accounts for TOS violations as “zotting”, a reference to the sound of lightning bolts in the comic.”

...stroke.
Thank you for the information.
God Bless Johnny Hart. I like a man with courage.

I take his Easter passing as message from God, to the rest of us, that He was pleased with Johnny’s life and work.

He had been battling lymphoma, and just a week ago, the doctors declared him to be cancer-free.

There were a few editors who were ticked off at his Christian messages. (You can guess which ones,) It didn’t matter to him. He keep writing them anyway.

What terribly sad news.
Mr. Hart passed working at what he always did best, helping readers to smile and laugh, and fearlessly bearing witness for the Lord in a medium that is almost exclusively anti-Christian. Our family will miss him very much.

Thanks for info...the AP article had said a stroke and I was quoting that; I stand corrected.
Hart designed the logo for the minor league hockey team the B.C. (Broome County) Icemen

O death, where is thy sting? Thanks for the ping. I've never been much of a cartoon reader, but Johnny Hart's stuff that's posted on this thread is wonderful. May he rest in peace.
To: Shady
Sad news. He wasn’t afraid to be politically incorrect in his cartoons and I appreciated that.
To: Shady
Johnny Hart got the BIG ZOT today.
Rest In Peace
