Thanks.
He is a friend of mine. I served with him in Tehran, but I left before the second takeover of the Embassy. Mike was the CG in Tabriz before being reassigned to the Embassy. The consulate in Tabriz was overrun around the same time our Embassy was in February 1979. A crowd put a rope around his neck and threatened to hang him. He was rescued at the last minute. Mike is a fluent Farsi and Turkish speaker.

“There were 2 Marines and 1 or 2 soldiers and I think one Air Force guy who were separated and let go with many women.”
I didn’t know or remember about the others, I would like to see a follow up on what happened to them.
People may forget that in 1979 many of us were still pretty idealistic when it came to race relations in America and it hurt a lot when we saw a black marine walk away from the people he was supposed to protect.
It made it appear like a “brother” was leaving “the man” to his justified penalties by “fellow oppressed brothers”, which was the image that the Iranian kidnappers wanted to present to the world.
Since he was guard staff the media did cover him leaving, evidently more than those other servicemen although the image is still shared with all of them since they were military and they were leaving behind American civilians.
If any one knows the follow up story to that side of the event I would appreciate a link, I haven’t had any success with my searches.

Apparently there is even more (or less, depending on how you look at it) to the POS.
The following was excerpted from a story published on a LEO forum site, taken from the local newspaper story on Subic, after he was charged with the insurance fraud:
The fraud investigation marked the second time that Subic's behavior came under scrutiny while he was working as a police chief. In 1998 he was fired from his job as Williston police chief for incompetency and inefficiency.
He is not well-liked, even by his current peers.
Dont think ALL the 15 are the same, mate.
As Kipling wrote 120 years ago
When you're left bleeding to die on Afghanistan's Plains
And the women come out to cut what remains
Just roll to your rifle
and blow out your brains.
And go to your Gawd like a soldier.
