Easter weekend saw the unveiling of Pope Benedict XVI's new and astonishing Popemobile. This one actually flies, and, being magic, leaves no carbon footprint. It is, in fact, a rug.
Past builders of the always striking vehices, Starachowice of Poland and Mercedes-Benz of Germany, were surprised when they lost their contracts to a small family-owned Pakistani vendor Pazyryk Rugs Plus, which has been weaving "floor covering solutions" for two thousand years. They have recently received negative press in Pakistan for outsourcing their fringe-making to India.
But Pope Benedict, an aficionado of textiles and tapestries, and a one-time decorator, was so impressed on his last visit to a rug fair in Brussels that he insisted his next vehicle be "miraculously rethought."
The latest model, a 6' x 9' area rug of wool and hand-spun silk, is titled "Balach Qum Senneh" (translated loosely, "Ben's rug of choice"). A standard variation without the papal insignia and velvet handles is available to the public by some of the finer rug merchants, at popular prices.
Below is a photo journal of this weekend's goings-on.
Happy Easter, and an early morning humor ping!
A blessed Resurrection Sunday to you, Silly.
God bless you.
God bless you, too! Christ is risen!
AMEN!
Merry Easter to you. According to the Weather Channel, here in south Texas, it's 41° F but feals like 31° F.
Happy Easter!

Global warming! Bush’s fault!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Still being,
Silly
Interesting that what one person thinks is silly is actually just plain ignorant.
Are you trying to tell me the rug is pure wool? I have done my research, I can tell you that.
One more remark out of you and you’re going to have to answer to the editor of Rug News.
That was cute. Happy Easter! Christ is risen; everything else is just details.
(And two daughters will be too late for breakfast if they don’t show up in three minutes.)
Just tell them their eggs are gonna be toast!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Have a wonderful day!
Heh.
Having a joyous Easter is nice. Having a Silly Easter is even better.
Now I’m going to buy up all the marked-down chocolate at the Lindt store on Fifth Avenue and gorge myself into a sugar coma.
Glad it made you smile. When I saw the pic of the Pope laying his prostate on the rug, I just couldn’t resist.
