Well, it's Easter weekend and the end of Passover, all together. Therefore it must be time for some in the drive by media to trash actual believers and proclaim them a danger to the world, particularly Christians and the damned stubborn Jews. God is dead you know, and so is Jesus, the self proclaimed king of the world found his grave and they showed it all on TV. Alternatively they must praise the "faith based" actions of Dhimmicrats. Anything they do is what Jesus would really have done. Anything a Republican does is betraying what Jesus would have done. He may not have been God (or the Son of God, they never have figured that one out), but Jesus was a good teacher. That's what rabbi means, after all.
But all of this religion falderal is just a side show. The real meat of this weekends shows is the complete control of all the levers of government by the Dhimmicrats. They are in charge and Nazi Pelosi, The Nation's Mother In Law, along with Dingy Harry, can dictate the terms to McChimpy Bushitler. There's a new politburo in town and he better not step out of line or he's toast!
Add to that the huge scandal that will bring down... who was it this time? Oh yeah! That sniveling weasel the attorney general. How dare he know about a legal act on the part of those nasty people in the White House? There must be a conspiracy and a cover up somewhere that they can uncover, evidence to the contrary is not to be allowed to get in the way.
And of course there's the humiliation of those dumb British types. That of course is all Bush's fault. All the more reason to trash McChimpy Bushitler and his poodle, Blair. Boy that Ahmadasahatter guy is really a gold mine for the DBM. Hours and hours of Bush bashing fun can be expected. He must be built up and praised for his glorious act of defiance against the evil that is America.
And did you know that there was a presidential election just around the corner?
But enough preliminaries. On to the shows.
NBC Meet The Press has no actual newsmakers to get in the way of the brilliant minds of the real masters of the world, the drive by media. Who needs newsmakers when you can manufacture your own out of whole cloth? A roundtable of four reliable Dhimmicrat talking heads and one "conservative" who regularly trashes the Bush administration is a sure way to demonstrate that old media isn't biased in any way. Who could think that wasn't fair and balanced? Those Nazis over at Fox? Puleeze! They plan to sing the praises of the Dhimmicrat presidential candidates fund raising efforts. They're also going to make a big deal about "The Congress" confronting Bush over Iraq funding and multiple "scandals." It always drives me nuts when they use that phrase when what they mean is a conflict between the Dhimmicrats and the White House. When the Republicans were in the majority of Congress it was always "Congressional Republicans" did this or that, but now that the Dhimmicrats have the slimmest of margins, not even a real majority in the Senate, it's ALL of Congress that is confronting Bush. No institutional bias there. And the sad part is that it's probably unconscious, they are so inculcated with the herd mentality that they don't even realize it. Watch for Lil Timmah to only turn to Kate O'Beirne when he's got a question on a topic he's sure she'll bash Bush about. I'm pretty sure she's on this week specifically because of this article that is in next weeks issue of National Review. Lil Timmah will just love it if he can get her to repeat some of her lines from that one! David "Torquemada" Gregory will represent the NBC Bush bashers with gusto, While Chuck Todd will provide the "maverick" viewpoint, though he will probably talk mostly about things "not-Bush," like how badly McCain is doing, or how exciting a Hagel campaign might be. Judy Woodruff will no doubt bring the viewpoint of the permanent Washington bureaucracy to the party, blaming all ills on those nasty Bush political appointees. There oughta be a law! Fun will be had by all.
CBS Face The Nation has a much better ratio, one newsmaker and three brilliant journalists. Of course, the newsmaker is a Republican presidential candidate whose only chance of winning anything is the race for who drops out first. This may be the second stop on his farewell tour of the Sunday shows, whether he likes it or not, the first being last months dreadful appearance on Late Edition with Wolfie on the 11th. Mark Kilmer didn't even bother mentioning him in his review of that weeks shows and I don't remember much being said about him on our Sunday thread here. Now doubt Old Bob will gleefully ask about the state of Huckabee's fund raising efforts. Huckabee, Hunter, Tancredo, Brownback and Tommy Thompson are somewhat embarrassing to watch during what little air time they get. Of course, the only footage the DBM are likely to use of any of them would be embarrassing, so it is understandable. Our lords and masters at the Ministry of Truth are once again telling us what to think. I'm putting a lot of hope into Fred because he has a big enough presence and public personae to talk past them and get his message out despite the gatekeepers in the DBM. Fred and McCain will likely be subjects addressed by Politico's Mike Allen, with King chiming in for a little McCain bashing.
Fox News Sunday offers up what may be the most interesting show to watch this week, with what Chris Wallace described Saturday morning as an "Easter Sunday food fight." He has both Chucky Schumer and Newt Gingrich. It could get very interesting if they're on at the same time or if Newt gets to follow Chucky. Of course, Newt has this nasty habit of going all sweetness and light when he should be living up to his bomb thrower reputation, but there is hope. The focus is the showdown "between Congress and the White House" over Iraq war funding and the AG. How novel. I'm sure they'll also get into the 2008 elections. The "normal" roundtable crew is back, so we have the possibility of a welcome smack down from Brit, but Mike Wallace's boy appears to be stifling those as best he can. Daddy must be proud, as long as he's on his meds.
CNN Late Edition presents it's usual cast of thousands (well, not really, only ten, but it seems like thousands!). They too will be concentrating on the Washington showdown between Bush and the Dhimmicrats, along with discussions of the situation in Iraq and Iran. CNN has been playing up the bold stands being taken by Harry Reid, daring Bush to veto the Iraq surrender plan that "The Congress" so graciously passed. If money for the troops gets cut off it's clear that the DBM will blame Bush for failing to "compromise" and driving the oh so reasonable and sincere Dhimmicrats to this awful position. Likewise the reporting on the Iranian hostage issue, besides pointing out how much a loser Blair is in all of this, has focused on how much different the American reaction to such an event would be. But that's a bad thing. With the exception of Blair and the British sailors and marines being portrayed as wimps the fact that no muscular testosterone driven action was taken exhibited a mature response to the situation. In contrast senior American officers interviewed were portrayed as belligerent cowboys when they say things like threatened US servicemen "could shoot to defend themselves and ... they wouldn't have to ask anybody for permission." How.... cowboy! It smacks of gunboat diplomacy. Bush better not do anything like that or you know that The Congress will impeach him for sure. And if they don't the UN might send a strongly worded note.
ABC This Week let's Georgie Steponallofus have a Bush bash threefer with both Carl Levin and the Ketchup Kouple, Jon and Terayza Heinz-Kerry. Levin this week is trying to revive his charge that Undersecretary of Defense Douglas Feith was somehow guilty of something, he's not sure what, because he dared to disagree with the CIA about Iraq having contacts with Al Qaeda. The article from PowerLine regular John Hinderaker over at the new AOL News Bloggers site (mostly HuffPo like) lays the silliness (and dishonesty) of the case out rather nicely. Georgie won't let things like actual legal analysis get in the way of a good hit piece on a Republican who he hates so much. I'm sending the link to that analysis to Georgie, but I doubt very strongly that he'll read it, let alone ask Levin about it. The Heinz-Kerry's are on to promote their new book where they try to horn in a little of the Goracle's global warming turf. The good news is that when the Heinz-Kerry's get involved in promoting something you know it's about to tank. Those people could make Jonah seem like a good luck charm. The other thing Kerry will get to do is lie about the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth with no fear of contradiction from loyal myrmidons of the DBM. Walter Isaacson, late of CNN and Time, is on board for a little Bush bashing of his own, no doubt, though how he'll get around to it when he's their to hawk his book on Einstein will be interesting to see. The loan contrary voice is Jon Kyl of Arizona. Bush is due to show up at the Arizona Mexico border on Monday and Kyl, along with Cornyn, has been one of the "hold outs" on a "comprehensive immigration reform" measure (NO IT'S NOT AMNESTY AND THEY REALLY MUST INSIST THAT YOU STOP SAYING THAT!) will be there. Kyl is making noises about a "compromise" on the issue, which doesn't sound good. That is the likely reason he gets face time with Georgie. Donna Brazile, Jake Tapper and George Will then have at Bush about something... ho hum. Same old same old.
The Saturday Shows serve up a mixed bag. The Beltway Boys concentrate on the Dhimmicrat's campaign fund raising, Pelosi Galore's visit with the Syrian eye doctor and Ahmadasahatter's tourism promotion gig. Fox News Watch covers the campaign funding and The Nation's Mother In Law's road trip as well. Both shows will be their usual shrill and stuttering gabfests. CNBC's Tim Russert Show goes the other way with a look at "faith and politics." Newsweek's Jon Meacham is currently running a discussion board on their web site called "On Faith." Their current topic is the effect on Christian's of finding Jesus dead body. The "other side" is an evil evangelical who used to work for McChimpy Bushitler as his top speech writer. I wonder what tone Lil Timmah will take with each of them? You get three guesses and two don't count. Finally The Journal Editorial Report brings the great Mark Steyn to talk about Iran, Pelosi's "an alternative, Democratic foreign policy" (Tom Lantos' phrase, and that would be a crime under the Logan Act (great Opinion Journal article, by the way)), the Bush Dhimmicrat confrontation over Iraq (and even JER uses the phrase "The Congress") along with the stumbles of Rudy Giuliani this week. Clearly worth setting the DVR for.
There you have it. The Dhimmicrat / DBM campaign against the United States of America continues, though perhaps slightly more... nuanced this week. More voices of other ways of thinking are allowed, though not many and under restrictive circumstances. Less on Gonzo Gonzalez and more on Iraq, Iran and Pelosi Galore. Several presidential candidates, both announced and potential (though most are also ran Republicans) and a lot of "big name" journalists joining in the echo chamber bush bashing chorus. Pretty standard fare. Even a bit of discussion about religion. Not pro-faith, no doubt, but at least the topic is being raised.
This should be cross posted to my blog at Wizards.townhall.com someday, though I have yet to cross post the last two three weeks items to my blog and will rectify that first. This post exists primarily as a heads up for who is on the weekend talks shows, what they've been invited on to push (based on their recent pronouncements) and the spin (meme) the DBM is likely trying to push based on that information. All of this is prep work for the weekly Sunday Morning Talk Show thread posted by Alas Babylon!. That thread provides a live commentary and analysis of the Sunday talking head shows, with valuable insight and exceptional fact checking. we are the Jedi Council of FreeRepublic, at least in regards to these DBM gabfests. You wanna know what was said and what it meant, as well as where they messed up? Read that thread!

- Meme:
- The dinosaur media may be not be left wing enough for the moonbats but Fox News must die for daring to not toe the party line, even if it is only 2% of the time
- How dare the White House even think about Politics, that's evil, and besides, it interferes with the Dhimmicrats using Congress and the bruearucracy for politics
- C'mon, Newt, you're running. We all know it. Stop playing cute so that we can go back to trashing you 100% of the time, not just 98%

ABC This Week (George Stephanopoulos)
Below are the topics and guests announced for this program, along with my take on the "memes" that the show is trying to push. With each guest's name are a series of links that I found in a web search that helped me get a handle on who they are and what their likely positions will be when they are interviewed.
- Meme:

- The global warming hoax is in it's final weeks... Jon and Terayza are now promoting it, therefore it's doomed
- McChimpy Bushitler is the source of all evil, even Einstein said so... well, he would have!

PingThe Weekend Talk Show Preview Thread is up
It will also be cross posted (sometime soon... maybe) to my blog at
http://wizards.townhall.com/
Here's a sample of my usually witty commentary...
He must be built up and praised for his glorious act of defiance against the evil that is America. ...

Good evening, my friend.
Impressive work as always. Going back to read up, but I want to point out that Snuffalupagus has a real adult lined up, Jon Kyl.

I will tell you why Huckabee is on. They want him to comment on his statement last week that if "candidates" (meaning Guiliani) don't have to answer for their marital history then Republicans owe an apology to Bill Clinton.
Of course, how could CBS resist a two-fer: bashing Guiliani (by a conservative) AND rehabilitating Bill CLinton. Of course, Huckabee's premise is 100% wrong, since as far as I know Clinton was not impeached for his sexual behavior, but for LYING.
I think Huckabee has made a big error here. I imagine it is because some in the Southern Baptist Church are making anti-Guiliani noise and citing his divorces.
As I said, I am not supporting anyone, but I think that most Americans aren't very comfortable with attacks on someone's personal life unless it involves actual criminal behavior. Clinton didn't seem to be hurt one bit (of course he has no shame, so maybe that's why).

Of course, Huckabee's premise is 100% wrongAs far as I know, Giuliani has never been accused of raping anyone. And Clinton has not stayed in his marriage because of his high regard for the institution. Huckabee sounds silly.

I wonder if Chris Wallace will use up Newt’s time to bash Pelosi or the Dems regarding the war supplemental by asking him about his “faux pas” regarding the English language..and “the ghetto”???

The spin for Pelosi is the GWB has done such a terrible job of international relations, someone has to take over, the Constitution be damned.
Nevermind that I never voted for Nazi Pelosi and wouldn’t even under threat of torture.

Nevermind that I never voted for Nazi Pelosi and wouldnt even under threat of torture.I heard that. Now Logan must be invoked. Forget this shadow or "alternative" government nonsense. It's a coup that happened here.

I didn't include this article in any of the shows since Nancy isn't on this week, but I linked to it in my discussion of the Journal Editorial Report where I mentioned the Logan Act.
Illegal Diplomacy
Did Nancy Pelosi commit a felony when she went to Syria?
a couple of excerpts (is that OK from Opinion Journal?)
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi may well have committed a felony in traveling to Damascus this week, against the wishes of the president, to communicate on foreign-policy issues with Syrian President Bashar Assad. The administration isn't going to want to touch this political hot potato, nor should it become a partisan issue. Maybe special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald, whose aggressive prosecution of Lewis Libby establishes his independence from White House influence, should be called back.
<snip>
The Supreme Court has spoken clearly on this aspect of the separation of powers. In Marbury v. Madison, Chief Justice John Marshall used the president's authority over the Department of State as an illustration of those "important political powers" that, "being entrusted to the executive, the decision of the executive is conclusive." And in the landmark 1936 Curtiss-Wright case, the Supreme Court reaffirmed: "Into the field of negotiation the Senate cannot intrude, and Congress itself is powerless to invade it."
Ms. Pelosi and her Congressional entourage spoke to President Assad on various issues, among other things saying, "We came in friendship, hope, and determined that the road to Damascus is a road to peace." She is certainly not the first member of Congress--of either party--to engage in this sort of behavior, but her position as a national leader, the wartime circumstances, the opposition to the trip from the White House, and the character of the regime she has chosen to approach make her behavior particularly inappropriate.
The author is Robert F. Turner. Here's his background as listed at the end of the article:
Mr. Turner was acting assistant secretary of state for legislative affairs in 1984-85 and is a former chairman of the ABA standing committee on law and national security.
Pretty good credentials, as far as I'm concernced.
Nancy, you got some splainin to do.
