NEW ORLEANS -- Dr. William Gray, the scientist known as America's most reliable hurricane forecaster, on Friday called Al Gore "a gross alarmist" for making the Oscar-winning documentary about global warming.
"For someone of his statue (stature), he's a gross alarmist," Gray said in an interview with The Associated Press at the National Hurricane Conference, where he delivered the closing speech.
"He's one of these guys that preaches the end of the world type of things. I think he's doing a great disservice and he doesn't know what he's talking about," Gray, 77, said.
A spokeswoman said Gore was on a flight from Washington, D.C., to Nashville Friday; he did not immediately respond to Gray's charges.
With his clutch of papers, simple presentations and off-the-cuff remarks, Gray is a fixture at the annual gathering of hurricane specialists and emergency planners, held this year in New Orleans.

I’ve been trying to explain this to people for years here when they attack his seasonal hurricane forecasts because they think he’s predicting high levels of activity because of global warming.

A carbon neutral flight I'm guessing. :)

Somebody must be making money of this junk science somewhere.Oh yes. Starting with the "scientists" pressing alarmist views.

Gore wouldn't reply to this guy, and would give the reason that he's not a climatologist. Only climatologists, not meteorologists, are allowed to discuss the climate, don't cha know.

When we were giving our protestations against algore and his trumped up ideas about globalwarming, we weren't kidding and just flapping our gums. He is a dumba$$ who picked a subject that he thought no one could prove against him. Too stupid to realize that just because he invented the Internet and various other things, like globalwarming, people would just accept it because he said so. (Some did - those who have the same intelligence as he does) He was looking for something to hitch his wagon to that could get him notice. Trouble is , it's negative al. Well, anyone with half a brain would check it out and find that there is a pattern, climate is cyclical. Period. What may seem to be warming now, will be cooling down the road. Period.
He's just a nobody trying to be a big cheese. He's stinky Roquefort

I think Dr. Gray stole that quote from us. Freepers have known for long time that ALGORE knows nothing.

I’m beginning to think we conservatives should be GRATEFUL that Al Gore has taken up this cause.
With his fraud, obvious deceit, hypocrisy and pomposity, Gore has turned what was recently a psuedo-scientific cause celeb into a laughingstock that fewer people take seriously every day.
It reminds me of what Bill Clinton did for the Women’s Rights issue. By embracing it publicly yet mocking it with his own personal actions (and the feminist movement speakers standing by him), he set feminism back 30 years. Al Gore may yet do the same for environmentalism.
We may look back someday and owe this moron a debt of thanks.

Maybe, but his statement will carry a lot more ‘weight’ than us ‘poor dumb nuts’:-)

I program and even did some fluid dynamic simulations for my engineering degree. Extremely difficult equations - Boeing only recently got to the point they could do a full airplane. Now do the whole world - for a hundred years - and add in heat transfer and chemical reactions.

Im beginning to think we conservatives should be GRATEFUL that Al Gore has taken up this cause.
The downside is that any project that could potentially be perceived as being 'green' tends to get wrapped in with the Al Gore Hysteria...and when the hysteria dies some projects could die with it.

I know. It's ludicrous that they really believe those models are accurate. You know as well as I do how easy it is to make just one small mistake -- and everything is out of whack.
I've read where they can't even feed in the necessary data in order to replicate the current conditions accurately. So why would anyone then draw the conclusion that the forecast is accurate?
The mind boggles.

Interglacial global warming is an inexorable Juggernaut, an unstoppable event that cannot be removed by praying, or carbon certificates, fluorescent light bulbs, or anything else.
