MISSOURI CITY, Mo. (AP) - Joe Selle didn't exactly get voted out office this week, but he wasn't re-elected, either.
Selle, who was running unopposed for City Council, didn't get any votes at all. Not even one from himself.

If he just neglected to vote for himself can you imagine the ‘D’Oh!’ that came out of him?

"Taht is my kind of election. Maybe we can arange for this to happen to all the politicians."Sounds good to me. Today someone asked me what I thought a good president would be. I answered by telling them it would be a person who would sit in the White House all day playing video games or surfing the internet. The only time they would work would be when they veto EVERYTHING congress passes during his term. I doubt this will ever happen, but I can always hope.

I hope they got the representative that they didn’t vote for.

“Selle, 42, said he simply forgot that Tuesday was election day, and apparently so did Ward 3’s other 34 registered voters.
Selle, a professional musician, was recently appointed to fill a council vacancy and had been seeking a full term.
He said he saw other residents at the school where the voting was held, “but it never occurred to me that’s what they were there for.”
Shoot, I was going to try to say something funny, but really, what can you add to the reality of this?

The last line is classic:
Turnout was better in Ward 2, where two people voted.

the city charter lets him keep the seat unless someone else is "successfully elected and qualified,"
nope. looks they got the guy they didn't vote for; clearly this miscarriage of democracy was only a show election put on by the Selle regime to pacify the UN and wasn't democratic at all :-)

If there had been a declared opponent, would he and the opponent have been declared “tied”, necessitating a selection by lot?

Nifty way to get around term limits (supposing the town had them), seeing that he wasn't actually elected. :-)

nah, I'm sure it would be decided after a couple recounts...

But if you asked them to vote on the new flavor of Doritos, you’d get 100% turnout.

I’ve always said that if I were President, my first act would be to get a staffer, send him or her to the office suppy store, and buy as many ink pads and rubber stamps inscibed “VETO” as we had the money to buy.

I would happily vote for you! I want a president who will pretty much do nothing, and veto every act of congress. I realize this is merely a dream, but I’m entitled to them.

My favorite part of the Constitution is “Congress shall make no law...”
Maybe if I were President, I’d have time to post on FR all day! (Well, except for a few minutes for those pesky Cabinet meetings so we can figure out what to defund next!!!!!)
