Mitt Romney is riding high this week after his victory in "the first primary," which consists of raising cold, hard cash to compete: more than $20 million in the first quarter, $5 million more than his closest contender, Rudy "Lay off my wife!" Giuliani. John McCain came in a lackluster third with $12.5 million.
Romney's campaign benefited from two distinct donor networks, according to media accounts: Wall Street and Mormons. GOP front-runner Rudy, struggling with one of those weird media freak shows erupting around his wife, Judith (her alleged participation in future Cabinet meetings and former puppy killings), must be a little envious on both counts.
Why is it that all the Dem candidates are still married to their first spouse, while among the current crop of leading GOP contenders, the only guy with just one wife is the Mormon?
Truth is, I don't think this is just an accident. There's something about Mormons the rest of us ought to pay attention to: Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do much better than almost any other faith group at sustaining a marriage culture -- and they do this while participating fully and successfully in modern life. Utah is above the national average in both household income and the proportion of adults who are college graduates.

No such thing as a mormon fundamentalist? You’re kidding, right? Why would someone lie, when the truth sounds better?

It was a stupid question. And irrelevant.
Have a good vacation.
They do not profess belief in or follow Church doctrine.
There are several different churches that call themselves Lutheran, but they really have no connection with each other.
If he keeps making claims as he did recently about being a lifelong hunter, he will lose his credibility like Al Gore did in 2000. The AP did background research and he has never had a hunting license.
C’mon Mitt; quit trying to re-invent yourself. It didn’t work for Gore and it sure as heck won’t work for a guy who is supposed to have some morals. We have enough liars in Washington.
There are never enough liars in D.C., that’s why we have lobbyist and pollsters.
Actually I understand your aversion to calling people who have branched from your LDS basic beliefs and continue the practice of polygamy that is no longer practiced in your Church. Although the teaching is still fundamental to Mormonism and is addressed in your scriptural cannon the “Doctrine & Covenants” section 132. I do understand that there was a manifesto issued in 1890 by your Prophet which basically says...
...(excerpt).....”Inasmuch as laws have been enacted by Congress forbidding plural marriages, which laws have been pronounced constitutional by the court of last resort, I hereby declare my intention to submit to those laws, and to use my influence with the members of the Church over which I preside to have them do likewise.

I suppose you recognize why some Christians would be aversed to Mormons calling themselves Christian when the LDS Church has itself stated that all other Christian sects are actual apostate forms of true Christianity....and the LDS Church is a restoration. This so-called restoration has instituted the practice of “sacred” temple ceremonies that are required in order to receive “exaltation” into the highest Kingdom in Heaven, where you will receive a physical body, will be married, and create worlds of your own.
Interesting!
The Bible clearly refers to God as "He, Father" etc. indicating a clear gender. how much plainer could it be than that? He has gender. You don't read one of those feminist revisionist Bibles do you? Where it says He/She?

Mods,
Posting pics. of the temple garment on homepages I personally find offensive. Much as I would find pics of crosses burning here on FR. Please consider and remedy the situation.
Rameumptom
Those pictures belong to me and mine. My father was buried in those clothes, as was my grandmothers and grandfathers.
Just because you find them offensive, doesn’t mean that others will agree with you. I will post links if they are removed.
My truth will go forward.
But I can't trust Mormons too much...when you live in an area with them, you can see that they are no better than any of we infidels out here....
People would do well to remember how Mormonism began....
I am not surprised that they make a lot of money.....Gays have big incomes too....
I remember when my son was playing soccer in grade school for a community team...it cost so much to sign up, but they had "scholarships" for those who couldn't afford it...
..this one kid got a "scholarship".....he was Mormon......
it turns out his daddy was a pilot and his grandfather a big shot dentist.....
so I think I know how some Mormons manage to rake in and keep their money.....
are others groups better?.......no, but they aren't worse either.....
CC no one is proposing to remove pictures from your possession, that they were taken at all explains a lot.
I would not expect to get away with posting links or pictures of pornography or any other offensive material on a monitored site such as this one. These pictures are offensive to Mormons of good standing and to anyone who knows that their very existence breaks covenants.
Your attitude of disregard for others feelings on this does not speak well of you as a Christian. I dont recall Christ differentiating between doing good things for your friends, and doing good things for your enemies, he wanted us to treat everyone well.
As for Your Truth what about The Truth? The truth is you are purposefully being offensive, and that is uncalled for.
Remove the pictures; its the Christian thing to do, Ill even say please.
Please?
The Christian “thing” to do is uncover blasphemies.
That people need to don this garb and learn secret handshakes in order to dwell with the Father in Heaven is every bit as blasphemous and pornographic to me as displaying this clothing is to you.
I am not “harming” you in any way. If you don’t like it, don’t look at it. In fact your brethren said this earlier on this very thread....
.....Secret? Hardly. Theyve been posted on the web for years.
Sacred? We like to think so, and we seek to keep them that way.

If you heard about them then they are not entirely secret are they?
To me a rite like baptism by immersion is replete with deep meaning. Similarly temple worship is also heavily infused with many teachings but they are basically the same teachings we teach in our public meetings. If you ever talk to the LDS missionaries or attend our services, what you will find is that what we talk about there is the same things we learn there. The major difference is that we believe that every temple worthy lay member must live in some respects like a priest, and similar to a priest in other faiths, the temple is the vehicle where we aspire to live up to these priest like ideals.
>> The Christian thing to do is uncover blasphemies.
I guess I should not be surprised; your venom only mirrors the canker in your soul that lead you from Gods church. That you could believe that Christ would want you to do this is, well amazing. What you will say to him when you meet, deeply ashamed of your actions in this life, I can only guess.
>>That people need to don this garb and learn secret handshakes in order to dwell with
>>the Father in Heaven is every bit as blasphemous and pornographic to me as
>>displaying this clothing is to you.
What an intellectually bankrupt statement, let me rephrase this for you to show you what is wrong with it.
What you do in sacred places because of your faith in God, is as offensive as to me as me making Light of things you hold sacred (just because I can), is to you. So Its OK for me to make light of things you hold sacred in public.
Get some perspective.
>>I am not harming you in any way.
Actually, you are, but you are harming yourself far more.
>>If you dont like it, dont look at it. In fact your brethren said this earlier on this very thread....
Ah, but first you invited all to look.
>>.....Secret? Hardly. Theyve been posted on the web for years.
I never said secret, I said sacred.
>>Sacred? We like to think so, and we seek to keep them that way
As a former missionary, to a land that was not generally populated with Christians,
I learned specifically things not to do to embarrass my fellow man in his own country.
I tried very hard while there representing Jesus Christ, and ever since, to do nothing that would later embarrass me when he inquired what I had done in his name.
All Christians should have this attitude of not embarrassing our Savior, sadly you do not seem to.
I have resisted the urge to take down your web site by the various means I have at my disposal, so I have passed that test. I did not sink to your level.
I have also resisted going into your past into things that I know would embarrass you simply because you have tried to embarrass me.
I publicly and freely forgive you for the scorn and abuse that you are heaping upon me and my fellow Mormons and honestly whish that you would indeed come unto Christ that he might have part in your life.
None who speaks with the venom and anger as you do here can possibly be his follower.
Go with God CC may he teach you his ways until you release the anger and hatred that is weighing down your soul before you leave this mortal realm, this I pray, Amen.
The Bible is very idiomatic and metaphoric..
GOD(Father, Son, Holy Spirit) is three entities or one?..
If the Father has a Son who did "He" mate with?..
Did the Messiah exist before Mary was even born?..
Suggest more thoughts on these matters.. on your part..
No doubt.

Naw. Assistant Scout Master was my best gig. Got way more fun time teaching and learning with the young men. Scoutmaster had too much administrative overhead. Rewarding? Yes. Fun? Not so much.
Thank You!
Um, this Mormon works hard, and just gets by, like everyone else around me. I don’t know what you are talking about.
