Mitt Romney is riding high this week after his victory in "the first primary," which consists of raising cold, hard cash to compete: more than $20 million in the first quarter, $5 million more than his closest contender, Rudy "Lay off my wife!" Giuliani. John McCain came in a lackluster third with $12.5 million.
Romney's campaign benefited from two distinct donor networks, according to media accounts: Wall Street and Mormons. GOP front-runner Rudy, struggling with one of those weird media freak shows erupting around his wife, Judith (her alleged participation in future Cabinet meetings and former puppy killings), must be a little envious on both counts.
Why is it that all the Dem candidates are still married to their first spouse, while among the current crop of leading GOP contenders, the only guy with just one wife is the Mormon?
Truth is, I don't think this is just an accident. There's something about Mormons the rest of us ought to pay attention to: Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do much better than almost any other faith group at sustaining a marriage culture -- and they do this while participating fully and successfully in modern life. Utah is above the national average in both household income and the proportion of adults who are college graduates.

I feel sorry for these people who bust spin and twist in order to defend their faith.
The priesthood in the LDS Church receives no pay.
Bishops serve for a period of 5 years and then are released.
Stake Presidents serve for a period of 10 years and then are released.
Our former Stake President was called as a Sunday School Teacher when he was released.
Members of the 70s Quorums serve from 5 to 15 years and then are released.
There is not a progression from one to the other.
Our former Stake President was never a Bishop.
Being in one office does not give you a leg-up on any other office.
In all cases, there is no pay, or even expenses paid to those who serve in the various offices.
I If you are quoting averages for time in a position, maybe, as for when you are released, that’s up to the Lord. Other than the exact years thing, pretty accurate.

There is not such a thing as a "fundamentalist Mormon". If they were ever a member of the LDS Church, they were excommunicated (had their membership canceled).
The Church has no say in what they do, and no power over them. The State prosecutes them when they can get evidence,(not the easiest thing to do.)

My point in posting that is that there is not a permanent calling for those who serve in offices in the priesthood, nor is there a "ladder" whereby one starts in lower positions and then on to "higher" positions.
LDS believe that the temple rights practiced by masons became corrupted over thousands of years through apostasy. the “restitution of all things” that Joseph Smith restored included sacred temple worship. This is why there are minor similarities between Masonic rituals and LDS temple worship.
Is that a yes? ... It won’t prevent me from voting for him if he wins the nomination.
I guess it’s a yes in your book, but even though there have been 15 POTUS who were masons, there has not been an LDS member yet. So in my book, no.
