WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Rudy Giuliani's message to social conservatives: If you don't like my views, don't vote for me.
(Excerpt) Read more at cnn.com ...
..there was never a doubt in my mind...
Me neither.
As to
Give the pro-Rudy's some credit, they're proactive and upbeat, and that's a good way to win elections Not a chance. Seeing as how this is a conservative site, not Republican, I give credit to those who are upbeat and proactive over a conservative candidate attempting to get the Republican nomination, not a liberal RINO. IMO, it's a good way to tear apart the Republican party for good..
Im sorry, they are upbeat, theyve reason to be as Howard Dean did pre-scream, and as regards FR they put out a more positive message.
Note your first comment to me.
I would vote for Mr. Gingrich if he was the nominee although my preference is Mr. Thompson. I don't believe he has any chance of winning the election, but since he reflects my beliefs and preferences, I would vote for him
Im OK with Thompson if Newt doesnt run, and a Thompson entry makes that very unlikely. But whats with I don't believe he has any chance of winning the election. Good grief, if either one of them can surmount what I suspect will be a strong pro-Rudy media bias, a clear fundraising lead, and a lead in the polls, are you really telling me they cant compete against Hillary or Obama? Thats an admission that conservative positions are losers in the marketplace, and I dont believe it.
And yes, this may well not be a Republican site, and people can go off and support whomever they wish. As they've always done.
Except they got Fierce Allegiance suspended, again
Your humor is flawless. LOL
I am not a member of the republican party. It is too unprincipled and too liberal for me. I am a conservative. I wish my views to have a voice in the political process, and therefore my vote is too precious to give away for nothing.I am not going to sacrifice political viability for a single election cycle no matter how much i might not like the candidate one party is fielding.
Semper Fidelis
Oh is it the same bunch trashing most of our Republicans again?
Perhaps they should or do belong to the Conservation party or is it the Conservative Party, or perhaps the Libertarian Party, but what they’ll get is a Democrat who should belong to the Socialist Peoples Party.
What is it that they don’t understand. We can differ in the primary but we need everyone to defeat the Leftists. I guess we’ll have to win the General Election without them.
I see now some of them are trashing Fred’s wife and mother in law. There can’t possibly be a perfect pure as the driven snow candidate for them. They are getting boring... and we have another year of primaries and then 9 more months of general? (rolling eyes in back of head)
I simply believe that Mr. Gingrich is too polarizing with too much baggage and cannot attract voters from the center in enough numbers to win the election. That doesn’t mean I won’t vote for him in the general election.
Again, I see the move towards a liberal candidate as an instrument that has a good chance of tearing apart the Republican party for good. If conservatives are told they must accept a liberal choice or ‘else’, that puts an end to the Republican party for good, especially if he wins, as the Republican party will then going forward insist on that type of candidate. The hard right will look elsewhere and likely form their own party and go from there. A couple of other parties have already permanently disappeared from the political landscape in this country, and to say it cannot happen again is wrong, IMO. In the meantime, the dim party will likely dominate for decades as they already have the support of the bulk of liberals. A lot of supposition, but this is the general direction I see the Republican party heading towards.
I’m not saying that the conservative position is a loser in the political landscape, although there are plenty of RINO Rudy supporters on this forum that insist that is now the case, but you have to have the ‘right’ conservative candidate (no pun intended) that also appeals to the center and even some from the left (if possible). I believe Mr. Thompson is the most conservative candidate in this election that actually has a good chance to win regardless of who the dims put up as their nominee.
I think everybody should have their own opinions. I just object to the idea that someone would use a woman's gender and age as some kind of pejorative.
For all I know, you're a fat, bald, middle-aged creep. In fact, there's a better than average chance that you are. Doesn't mean your opinion isn't valid, right?
At least your honest and you’re to be commended for that. Now please give others the courtesy to have their viewpoints. The problem is when you want to change everyone to your liking. Conservatives come in a variety of flavors. Republicans come in a variety. However, we’re all on the right side of the spectrum and love America, versus the Leftists who are Anti American/ Socialist/ Marxists.
It’s insane if we don’t stick together and work within one party as the enemy is so soooo EVIL. We need each other to Defeat EVIL. Just as Ron Paul, a libertarian realized that 3rd parties get nowhere, he’s now a viable member of the R party but still sticks to his views.
Interesting that in post 132 I said, in response to your.
The holocaust of abortion, nearly 4000 dead American kids every day, makes the comparison apt. If that makes you uncomfortable, I cant help that.I couldn't care less. I won't be voting for Rudy in the primaries despite the lunacy of his collective detractors Unlike his collective detractors, I do think the country will be better off with President Rudy than President Hillary or President Obama, the 4,000 abortions notwithstanding .And unlike his collective detractors, I don't think the conversation here is convincing many President Rudy supporters to support President Gingrich, Hunter (if he's still running), Romney, Thompson or even McCain But I could certainly be wrong Time will tell.
you shortened my response to
to
I couldn't care less.I know.
Maybe you didnt mean it, but you changed the meaning a bit through selective editing.
You might recall discussions on a number of threads when Alan Keyes, a man whos positions (not the gun licensing thing :>) ) I respect a great deal, was running for Senator. Other than the first few threads I was highly critical of his campaign, particularly on FR, which I dont see any particular need to revisit.
In the course of the threads my support for a Democrat, Glen Poshard, for Governor came up on a number of occasions, for which I took a great deal of grief along the lines of what is spewed at the Rudy supporters now. As I recall, you werent entirely familiar with the Poshard/Ryan issues initially, once you were you were not one of the bomb throwers. Feel free to correct me if Im wrong.
As I acknowledged at the time, Id be vote for the Republican Senatorial candidate, but not necessarily for Alan Keyes. And yes, the nonsense here impacted the way I phrased that.
So here we are in 2007, ten months before the primaries, Rudy leading in a race at least two promising conservative candidates havent yet entered, and I couldn't care less. Were throwing bombs.
Theres a lot wrong with this guy.
Abortion may be your biggest concern, since Ive taken shi* for voting for a pro life Dem, I shouldnt have to explain myself to you.
I admit to being more concerned with his end runs around Congress and the Courts (gee, thats the Constitusion), as demonstrated by stop and frisk, unconstitutional, and the gun manufacturers lawsuit, rejected by the courts and Congress.
On the one hand, I dont think bomb throwing on FR is all that important as to electoral results, but I think its the wrong way to garner support for a non-Rudy candidate.
Feel free to tell me where I'm wrong.
Not literally. That post was a burn on the Rudy apologists on FR.
Sorry. I misunderstood your response as a flippant one towards the thousands of unborn babies who are being killed every day by Giuliani’s buddies at NARAL. My apologies.
But FR is not representative of the 2004 Bush voters as a whole, and while I'd prefer not to see it, Giuliani wouldn't tear the party any more than Bush-Bush-Dole-Bush-Bush did. Reagan platforms, but from immigration to size of government we're not exactly talking the issues that motivate posters here. And whether you like it or not, Rudy will be able to attract conservative voters on economic issues, as in read my lips no new taxes unless we need them, crime, and the war.
Thanks for that post. Sometimes it seems like the time is drawing near when that “complete overhaul” might be in the works.

If the Republican party writes off the pro life, pro liberty, pro gun planks, well, let’s just say it will lose a great deal of respect, and I’m predicting a great deal of support. I can just about guarantee you that Free Republic will become much more anti RINO, anti liberal, anti big government than it’s ever been. If we are left with no conservative leadership and no conservative majority to worry about maintaining, then I think it’ll be open season on all RINOs from the top down and there will be a complete overhaul in the works.

The fact that Mr. Giuliani needs a ‘conservative coach’ speaks volumes to me, and leads me to believe that once liberal legislation is forwarded to him from a dim led congress (if he actually does win, not a given in my book), he will sign away my rights without a second thought, and I get that impression from his track record as I do not believe a word he says concerning just about any issue. His previous actions speak louder than words, and the way he insisted on flaunting the law was a galling spectacle.
I still don’t believe the current numbers will be relevant in 6 months and further along as more voters actually start paying attention to what he is all about, but I seem to be in the distinct minority with my opinion.
Amen. As far as I'm concerned, they can have the Republican Party, but I hate it that they are running loose on FreeRepublic.
CNN is reporting this. I went to thestate.com, the largest newspaper in SC, and guess what?...it looks like a cover-up for julie's abortion stance courtesy of the state newspaper.
Perhaps tomorrow will bring more. But for now, this is the story regarding julie's abortion postion as promoted in the state online edition
Now that's what I call propaganda. Then note, no challenge whatsover on his gun grabbin.
It looks like the SC conservative freepers are gonna have to get the word out on this miscreant.
The numbers will change as we get the word out. Obviously, from what I read there thus far, we cannot depend on papers like the state. I hope this changes. I will be checking again in the morning for some follow ups at thestate.com.
I never did... and Dennis Miller can go fly a kite with Julie-Annie... I never trusted either of them...
Here they are with Chuckie Scummer...
