Not while they’re under contract they don’t. When you sign a contract indicating you will submit X number of episodes per season for Y number of seasons then that’s what you have to do. There’s only two ways out of that kind of contract: complete it, have the network void it by canceling your show.

Oh, sorry. I didn't realize that they were slaves to the network. You don't know what's in their contract any more than I do. Even if it relfects exactly what you laid out, they could have simply delivered the remaining shows and walked away if they were that upset about the network censoring them. That they didn't shows that they're not so upset, and much happier living with censorship than having their paychecks taken away.

Funny you’re saying the real courage would have been them giving in completely to CC, not creating the episode at all and then walking away without ever putting the issue in front of the public. While I’ll never call writing a TV show brave I think forcing CC to publicly do the editing and take the blame comes a lot closer to bravery than blithely letting them have their way. Caving in and making your “stand” a year later by not renewing is pretty damn wussy. it’s a step up or step aside world and what you outlined would be stepping aside.
