Attorney General Bill McCollum to Serve as Giuliani Campaign Florida Chairman

The Rudy Giuliani Presidential Campaign today announced that Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum will lead the Mayor’s efforts in the state. The Mayor made the announcement in Tallahassee with the Attorney General and several members of the Florida State House who will be joining the Mayor’s Florida leadership team.

"As a conservative and someone who has been active in national security for decades, I'm honored to help Rudy's team in Florida and I know that he's the candidate most fit to lead the country," McCollum said. "Floridians know Rudy’s record of transforming New York City through conservative, tough on crime, law and order principles and it is that record of leadership, which has already translated to a great deal of support throughout the state."

Before being elected in 2006, Attorney General McCollum served in the U.S House for twenty years, founding and chairing the House Task Force on Terrorism and Unconventional Warfare. McCollum also served three terms on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. McCollum was on active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1969 to 1972. In 1992, he retired from the Naval Reserve as a Commander, having served 23 years as an officer in the Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. He is a member of the American Legion, the Reserve Officers Association, the Naval Reserve Association and the Military Order of the World Wars.

"Attorney General McCollum is a leader, a committed public servant, and an asset to the campaign," said Mayor Giuliani. "He will be a tremendous advocate as we continue to expand our team in Florida."

Are Bill McCollum & Bill Simon twins separated at birth? It’s a long-held theory that just keeps getting stronger.

What can I say - that’s your choice. Don’t cry when you get your new medical card in the mail and it says HillaryCare on it.

I was an assistant AG in Florida and I know the political landscape. McCollum may be a national defense/law and order guy, but he's no social conservative.

Not that little things like killing unborn children or redefining marriage other values that hold together our social fabric are important to a "Rudy conservative."

"Bill (McCollum) is also on the Board of Directors of the James Madison Institute, Florida's most prestigious conservative think tank. "

OK...I’ll play...don’t cry when the 2nd amendment is repealed...or your taxes are raised...or any other issue crops up that doesn’t follow Republican and Conservative ideals..if two Dems are running for office...who would you vote for? Only one reason to vote for Rudy...and that is the WOT...and I seriously doubt the next prez.....Dem or Repub...is going to go against the WOT...

Poor Rudy. McCollum was one of the worst campaigners in the country. On behalf of the Florida FR Chapter, I worked the computer for eleven months of my life in McCollum's unsuccessful run for the Senate.

His staff that I had to deal with was scatterbrained and he himself was a lackadaisical, wimpy and uninspiring candidate.

Perhaps Rudy thinks that Bill is a real hottie now.

Rots of ruck.

Maybe they're cousins.

Maybe they share campaign managers.

I must have missed the part about abortion and gay marriage. You do realize you're following the MSM's definition of "conservative"-- you know, the same guys who labelled GWB a conservative? But hey, they were just parroting the talking points of the modrates who control the GOP. The reality is that being a fiscal conservative does not make a social conservative and vice versa, and without both, no candidate is a Reagan conservative. But I'm sure you guys will try to wrap yourself in his mantle anyway.

So how do you feel about President Hillary and the Dems surrendering to the terrorists — or did you miss that now they don’t want to fund the GWOT in FY 08?

Is the “social conservative” agenda to turn Hillary and the Dems loose on the nation?

"..."he's the candidate most fit to lead the country" Shoot me please....
"May I stand next to you?"..."

I don't really give a rats-ass, Dave. It's like watching Florida play Florida State - I don't care who wins, I just wanna see lots of injuries, so that after the game, some of the thugs go to the hospital instead of back to jail.

I must be going now. Stay well, pally .................. FRegards

Since you asked: I feel it is a Hobson's Choice and that there's not a shade of difference between them, except Guiliani wears a GOP pin on his lapel. His supporters scream "national security" and "war on terror." My retort is (a) our internal corruption is more fatal to our long term survival than any external forces, and (b) what has he done on national security in any event?

I'll ask the same question about Guiliani I asked when Mr. Hillary Clinton ran in '02: "If the man is habitually disloyal to his own wife, how can we expect him to be self-scarficial and put the nation's interests ahead of his own?" BC answered that question with his actions, as predicted.

Where you Rudy supporters see "character", all I see is rhetoric, feel-good speeches, and lack of principled moral fibre-- much like Clinton I.

Bill McCollum was one of the House managers during Impeachment of Mr. Hillary.

Flying ashtray alert.
